Baseado na crescente e expressiva quantidade de resíduos sólidos gerados pelo atual modelo de desenvolvimento, a busca pela produção de concretos que sigam as diretrizes e os conceitos de sustentabilidade tornou-se um grande desafio para o âmbito da construção civil. Nestas diretrizes estão inseridas a reciclagem e a reutilização, ambas se apresentam como alternativas sustentáveis para reduzir os danos acarretados ao meio ambiente. Neste contexto, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar a substituição parcial da areia natural por resíduos de borracha de pneu de diferentes malhas, sendo a mais fina malha 40 e a mais grossa de malha 10. Os corpos de provas foram submetidos aos ensaios de resistência à compressão, tração por compressão diametral nas idades de 3, 7, 28 e 91 dias e módulo de elasticidade dinâmico nas idades de 28 e 91 dias. Verificou-se então que todos os concretos em ambos estados, fresco e endurecido atenderam aos parâmetros normativos e surgem como uma alternativa um tanto quanto promissora no quesito sustentabilidade.
