RESUMOA couve-flor é uma das principais hortaliças cultivadas no Brasil. O conhecimento do crescimento e acúmulo de nutrientes pela cultura poderá ser útil no seu manejo e na adubação. Com o objetivo de determinar o acúmulo e a exportação de nutrientes pela cultura da couve-flor 'Verona', conduziu-se um experimento em solo, no período de 23 de fevereiro a 05 de junho de 2006. O delineamento do experimento foi em blocos casualizados com três repetições. O experimento constou inicialmente de 480 plantas divididas em três blocos. Para cada época de amostragem foram retiradas duas plantas por bloco. Foram realizadas cinco amostragens da parte vegetativa das plantas a cada 14 dias após o transplante e três amostragens das inflorescências a cada quatro dias, após o início de sua formação, sendo avaliado o crescimento da planta e o acúmulo de nutrientes nas inflorescências, no caule, nos limbos foliares e nos pecíolos. As plantas apresentaram crescimento e acúmulo de massa seca contínuos. O período de maior acúmulo de nutrientes foi do início da formação da inflorescência até a colheita. A ordem decrescente dos nutrientes acumulados pela cultura foi: N>K>Ca>S>Mg>P>Fe>Mn>Zn>B>Cu. A exportação de nutrientes (g por planta de macronutrientes e mg por planta para micronutrientes) pelas inflorescências foi de 3,50 de N; 0,296 de K; 0,06 de Ca; 0,290 de S; 0,032 de Mg; 0,249 de P; 2,08 de Fe; 0,375 de Mn; 1,01 de Zn; 1,45 de B e 0,07 de Cu. RESUMOObjetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a qualidade de frutos de cinco cultivares de melão rendilhado (Cucumis melo L.), cultivados em casa de vegetação, em função do sistema de produção. O experimento foi instalado em casa de vegetação na UNESP-FCAV, Jaboticabal-SP, no período de novembro de 2005 à fevereiro de 2006. O experimento foi delineado em esquema fatorial 5 X 2, em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos resultaram da combinação de cinco híbridos de melão rendilhado: Maxim, Bônus 2, Shinju 200, Fantasy e Louis e dois sistemas de cultivo: no solo e em substrato de fibra da casca de coco. As características avaliadas foram: massa fresca do fruto, espessura de mesocarpo, intensidade de rendilhamento da casca, pH, sólidos solúveis totais, acidez titulável, índice de maturação (RATIO), e vitamina C. Não houve interação significativa entre os sistemas de cultivo e cultivares para nenhuma das características avaliadas. O cultivo de melão em substrato resultou em frutos com qualidade superior ao cultivo em solo. Os híbridos Louis e Fantasy foram os que apresentaram melhor desempenho qualitativo de frutos. ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to evaluate the fruit quality of five net melon (Cucumis melo L.) cultivars, grown in a greenhouse, in function of production system. The study was carried out in a greenhouse at UNESP-FCAV, Jaboticabal-SP, Brazil, during the period of November, 2005 to February, 2006. The study was carried out using a 5 x 2 factorial scheme, in randomized complete block design with four repetitions. The treatments resulted the combination of five net melon hybrids: Maxim, Bônus 2, Shinju 200, Fantasy and Louis and two cultivations systems: in soil and in coconut fiber substrate. The characters evaluated were: fresh weight of fruit, mesocarp thickness, fruit shape index, pH, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, maturation index (RATIO); and vitamin C. No interactions were observed between cultivated system and cultivars for characteristics examined. The melon cultivation in substrate provided in fruits with better performance when compared to cultivation in soil. The hybrids Louis and Fantasy show the best performance quality of fruits. Na literatura, encontra-se pouca informação relativa à quantidade de área plantada com melões do grupo reticulatus no Brasil, uma vez que a maior expressividade de plantio ocorre para o melão do grupo inodorus.O consumo de melão rendilhado está relacionado ao teor de sólidos solúveis, responsável pelo sabor e o seu aspecto visual, que o diferencia dos outros tipos de melões existentes no mercado. RESUMO O objetivo do trabalho foi quantificar o acúmulo de macronutrientes ao longo do ciclo da cebola, cv. "Superex", estabelecida por semeadura direta. O experimento foi conduzido na Fazenda Rio Doce, entre os municípios de Itobi e São José do Rio Pardo, SP. As amostragens de plantas foram realizadas aos 30, 50, 70, 90, 110, 130 202,43; 31,23; 295,28; 172,42; 35,20 e 73,47mg, respectivamente, de N, P, K, Ca, Mg e S. Exportou, pelo bulbo, 67% do N, 85% do P, 68% do K, 57% do Ca, 56% do Mg e 81% do S acumulado pela planta.Palavras-chave: Allium cepa L., crescimento, nutrição de plantas, sistema de cultivo. The macronutrients N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and S as well as plant dry matter content were evaluated in plant samples taken at 30, 50, 70, 90, 110, and 150 days after seeding (DAS). The aerial part and the bulb contributed respectively with 20 and 80% of the whole mature plant dry matter. The macronutrients were accumulated in the plant in the following order: K>N>Ca>S>Mg>P. Objetivou-se avaliar a produtividade de cinco híbridos de pimentão amarelo em ambiente protegido, utilizando fibra de casca de coco e fertirrigação. Adotou-se o delineamento em blocos casualizados, com cinco cultivares (Zarco, CLXP 1463, Línea, Matador e Eppo), e quatro repetições, sendo cada parcela constituída por onze plantas. O cultivo de pimentão foi feito em sistema aberto em vasos plásticos de 13 L, transplantando-se uma muda por vaso, as quais foram produzidas em bandejas de poliestireno expandido. Adotou-se o espaçamento de 0,8 m entre fileiras simples, 1,10 m entre fileiras duplas e 0,5 m entre plantas. As plantas foram conduzidas com quatro hastes principais e tutoradas individualmente em forma de "V". A colheita dos frutos foi realizada quando estes atingiam o tamanho ideal e, no mínimo, 70% da coloração amarela. Avaliaram-se o comprimento e o diâmetro médio dos frutos, a relação comprimento/diâmetro, a espessura da polpa, o teor de sólidos solúveis totais, o pH, o número de frutos por planta, a massa total de frutos por planta, o peso médio dos frutos, a produtividade total e comercial, e a classificação dos frutos. O híbrido CLXP 1463 produziu frutos de maior comprimento e diâmetro. Este híbrido apresentou menor número de frutos por planta, porém com maior massa. Para as características espessura da polpa, sólidos solúveis totais e pH não se verificou diferença significativa entre os híbridos. Os híbridos CLXP 1463, Eppo e Matador se mostraram promissores, com produtividades comerciais de 107,61; 102,62 e 95,31 t ha-1, respectivamente. Os híbridos CLXP 1463, Eppo, Línea e Matador apresentaram toda a produção classificada como Extra.

ACCUMULATION OF MACRONUTRIENTS BY TWO ONION CULTIVARS ON DIRECT SOWING SYSTEMEconomically, onion is the third more important vegetable in Brazil. As a consequence of the increasing by use of new hybrid varieties, the nutritional management of the crop needs to be adequately known. This research was carried out in São José do Rio Pardo, São Paulo State, Brazil, from March 7 to August 8, 2004. The objective was to quantify, under field conditions, the accumulation of macronutrients by onion cultivars established by direct sowing. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with three replicates. The cultivars studied were Optima and Superex. Samples were taken at 30, 50, 70, 90, 110, 130 , respectively. The Superex hybrid exported through its bulb about 44.29% of N, 55.85% of P, 62.54% of K, 35.71% of Ca, 31.82% of Mg, and 48.80% of S, the equivalent to 28. 65, 5.77, 42.70, 23.42, 4.15, and 12.07 kg ha -1 , respectively.

The production of sweet peppers in greenhouse has been severely affected by soil pathogens. With this, producers are adopting new cultivation techniques, such as cultivation in substrates, but information about this type of cultivation are still scarce. The aim of the present work was to evaluate nutrient accumulation in sweet peppers cultivated in coconut fiber with fertirrigation in greenhouse. Initially, 160 plants (Eppo cultivar) were divided into four blocks, where two plants per block were analyzed every 21 days after transplanting. The sweet peppers were cultivated in plastic pots of 13 L, containing coconut fiber, and placed in double rows with spacing of 0.5 x 0.8 m between single rows and 1.10 m between double rows. The commercial production of the mature fruits was estimated to be 97.3 t ha -1, where all the production was classified as Extra (maximum quality). The accumulation of the various determined nutrients were: 8.22 g plant -1 of N, 1.14 g plant -1 of P, 7.84 g plant -1 of K, 3.25 g plant -1 of Ca, 1.34 g plant -1 of Mg, 2.24 g plant -1 of S, 16.65 mg plant -1 of B, 3.36 mg plant -1 of Cu, 45.98 mg plant -1 of Fe, 34.78 mg plant -1 of Mn and 22.28 mg plant -1 of Zn.

Knowledge about the growth of crops allows the planning of rational cultivation methods which contribute to achieve greater potential of plant species, besides supplying information for the construction of descriptive mathematical models of growth. The growth curve of sweet pepper (Eppo hybrid), cultivated in coconut fiber in a greenhouse with fertirrigation, was determined. The experiment consisted initially of 160 plants divided into four blocks. Two plants were analyzed per block every 21 days after transplanting, ending at 189 days after transplant. The cultivation was carried out in plastics pots of 13 L containing coconut fiber, which were arranged in double rows, spaced 0.5 x 0.8 m between simple rows and 1.1 m between double rows. In each harvest the plant growth, production and quality of mature fruits were evaluated. The dry mass of the shoot increased with time, following the experimental model exponential of first order, reaching a maximum of 451.5 g/plant, 189 days after transplanting (DAT). The production of dry mass of leaves, stem, root and fruit also increased over time reaching maximum values of 68.7, 65.8, 11.5 and 302.9 g/plant, respectively, at 189 DAT. The same occurred with the leaf area per plant, plant height and the absolute rate of growth, whose maximum values were 6.183,5 cm 2 , 136.9 cm and 4.4 g/plant/day, respectively. The growth of the plant was continuous throughout the cycle, and the highest amount of dry mass was accumulated in fruits, reaching a marketable production of 97.3 t ha -1 . All fruits were classified as Extra.

Five vegetable soybean genotypes were evaluated for agronomic characteristics, functional and antinutritional properties. The experiments were conducted in the field, in the School of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences, in Jaboticabal, São Paulo State, Brazil. The experimental design was a randomized block design with five treatments (genotypes) and four replications. The genotypes JLM003, JLM004, JLM010, JLM024 and JLM030 were evaluated in the following characteristics: number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, fresh weight of pods per plant (g), fresh weight of 100 seeds (g), estimated total yield of immature seeds (kg ha -1 ), moisture content, proteins, lipids, ash, carbohydrates, isoflavones and Kunitz trypsin inhibitor. In the assessment of the major agronomic traits, in the conditions of this study, the genotype JLM010 was the most recommended for the region of Jaboticabal. This genotype showed better agronomic characteristics of production as a vegetable, producing 136.04 g of fresh weight of pods per plant, 92.52 g of fresh weight/100 seeds and 11.12 t/ha of total immature seeds, and better functional properties.
