The numerous coupled physical phenomena involved in natural circulation two-phase flow loops make their analytical or numerical modelization difficult. A 1D mixture model code has been developed for the sizing of semi-closed thermosiphon loops. The results of the code have been compared to existing experimental data of several two-phase flow thermosiphons. A reasonable agreement was found between the experimental and computed mass fluxes. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis was
conducted on the pipe diameter, the imposed pressure, and the position of the condenser. The model was finally used to size an experimental thermosiphon loop.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
