In the historical journey of humanity, the phenomenon of politics has always been at the center of social life. Political knowledge constitutes an important dimension of the relationship between politics and society. Media plays an important role in individuals' having the right information on political issues and problems. Compared to traditional media, social media brings many conveniences and responds to the needs of the political information that people have previously gone through traditional communication channels. This study, which was built on the method of literature review based on scientific observation, discusses the role of social media in the process of political information through the example of Twitter. The study, supported by current research examples on the subject, revealed that Twitter, a text-oriented social network, is an important social media environment that users apply for political information.
Instagram allows users to share their information, photos and videos with other people; as one of the fastest growing social media tools. When social networks such as Instagram began to become more popular, the phenomenon of communication was transformed; in social life, the distinction between the private sphere and the public sphere has become increasingly blurred. But in addition to this rapid development, people use Instagram as the cause; there are not too many academic studies examining the relationship between Instagram and narcissism. This research examines the relationship between Instagram use habits and motives and narcissism. In the study using field research method, data were obtained from 349 university students by face to face interviews. As a result of the research, five motives have been identified which lead university students to use Instagram. These motives are in order of importance; Knowledge, Coolness, Documentation, Surveillance and Creativity. Individuals who use Instagram to be motivated by information are also interested in Inspection motivation. In the study, no significant correlation was found between daily Instagram duration and the level of narcissism. However, as the level of narcissism increases, there is an increase in the frequency of Instagram usage. Again, there is a weak, positive and significant relationship between narcissism level of the participants and the motives of Knowledge and Coolness.
News narrative structure differs depending on many variables such as period, ownership structure, ideological position, political opinion. These differences are more felt especially when communicating events of international importance. While each country transforms internationally important developments into news narratives, it approaches the event or phenomenon from its own point of view. It is seen that the same news is reported according to different narrative structures in different country press. In this study, which aims to reveal the global change in the narrative structure, the narrative structures of the news of the peace fountain operation in different countries will be examined.
The concept of post-truth, which came to the fore with the political developments in 2016, is one of the most discussed issues today. Post-truth emerged as a concept related to politics. When used in this way, the term implies that seeking the truth is no longer considered appropriate by politicians. This concept essentially defines the political tendencies that devalue the factual. Although it emerged in politics, it began to be used in other fields. Especially with the developments such as Trump's election victory in 2016 and Britain's Brexit referendum, the use of the concept has increased. Post-truth, which expresses the fact that the concept of truth has become controversial, has been chosen as the word of the year this year. This study will define the concept of post-truth on which books, articles, and theses are written. In addition, a brief introduction will be made to the reasons why today's world is called the post-truth age.
Kadın ve erkeğe belirlenmiş roller yükleyen toplumsal cinsiyet kalıpları kişileri sınırlandırmakta ve cinsiyet eşitsizliklerine neden olmaktadır. Medya, üretilen içeriği geniş kitlelere ulaştırma göreviyle bu rollerin yaygınlaştırılmasında etkin bir rol üstlenmektedir. Geleneksel medyada yaygın bir şekilde gözlemlenen bu durumun kullanıcıya içerik üretme imkânı veren sosyal medya ortamlarında değişeceğine yönelik yaygın bir görüş vardır. Bu bağlamda mevcut araştırmada, kullanıcıya özgür bir paylaşım ortamı sunan sosyal medya araçlarında toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin sürdürülüp sürdürülmediği araştırılmıştır. Kullanıcıların sokağa çıkma yasaklarını değerlendirmelerinde toplumsal cinsiyete göre farklılıklar olup olmadığını ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlayan araştırmada örneklem olarak Covid-19 pandemisinde uygulanan sokağa çıkma yasaklarına dair paylaşımlar ele alınmıştır. Twitter üzerinden #sokağaçıkmayasağı etiketi veya sokağa çıkma yasağı kelimelerini içeren erişime açık gönderiler ağ kazıma tekniği ile toplanmıştır. Python programı aracılığı ile elde edilen veriler kullanıcıların sisteme kaydolurken verdikleri ad ve soyadı bilgisi dikkate alınarak kadın ve erkek cinsiyetlerine göre sınıflandırılmıştır. Bu kapsamda 973 kadın ve bin 472 erkek olmak üzere 2 bin 445 kullanıcıya ait 224 bin 87 gönderi analiz edilmiştir. İki grup tarafından kullanılan kelimeler karşılaştırılarak istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunan kelimeler içerik analizi yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda toplumun tamamını ilgilendiren sağlık ile ilgili bir kararda bile sosyal medya paylaşımlarında toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin yansımaları gözlemlenmiştir ve bu alanda da toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin sürdürüldüğü sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
