This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of Mombasa grass in a silvopastoral system and submitted to different nitrogen fertilization rates and pasture management strategies. Treatments consisted of four nitrogen fertilizer doses (0.0, 125.0, 187.5, and 250.0 kg N ha -1 year -1 ) and three cutting heights (70, 90, and 105 cm). Plant agronomic and physiologic efficiencies, as well as nitrogen use and accumulation by plants, forage production, and increments of forage production, were verified for the application of nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen fertilization was only efficient for grasses cut at 105 cm, where 75% of the applied nitrogen at a dose of 125 kg ha -1 year -1 was recovered. Yet the grasses cut at 70 and 90 cm presented low results for nitrogen fertilization, showing plants with low physiological and agronomic efficiencies. For Mombasa grass in a silvopastoral system, nitrogen fertilization is more efficient when applied at lower doses and for plants cut at higher heights. Key words: Megathyrsus maximus.

Spatial dynamics of the physical and chemical parameters of water in fish farms

Abstract: Brazil presents, characteristics that can make of its territory, the world's great barn for the production of cultivated fish organisms. However, for this it is fundamental to study the physical and chemical parameters of the water in the growing areas, so that strategies can be sought to avoid handling errors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the spatial dynamics of the physical and chemical parameters of fish pond water and their relationship of dependence. The study was carried out in a nursery excavated on natural land, located on a property, adjacent to the experimental farm of the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science School, Federal University of Tocantins, in the municipality of Araguaína. The points for collection on the grid were obtained by GPS, considering the size of the total area. In each georeferenced point samplings were performed in two different depths, one 20 cm from the tank bottom (depth first) and the other at 20 cm from the water surface (depth 2) totaling 108 samples. There was major variation between depths for most variables. Descriptive statistics was observed moderate variation coefficient only for dissolved oxygen. In the analysis of semivariograms, only the variable electrical conductivity showed pure nugget effect. spatial dependence was found between the variables at both depths. The mesh used was effective in showing the spatial distribution of physical - chemical parameters: dissolved oxygen, water temperature and pH, but it was not useful for electrical conductivity, given its low spatial variability. The physical and chemical parameters of the water of the fish ponds are influenced by the management practices, being easily detected through the isoline maps.

Several strategies have been used to improve soil fertility using integrated crop-livestock (ICL) systems, and the harvest of the accompanying crop used for silage may have several benefits to the soil depending on the quantity and quality of the remaining litter, providing dry matter (DM) for no-tillage systems and nutrient mineralization for the subsequent crop. The objective of this study is to evaluate the rate of decomposition of macro-and micronutrients of the DM of litter produced in ICL systems at different harvest heights in one year. The study was developed at the Experimental Farm of UNESP in Selvíria, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, in the dry season. The study included five replications in plots of 200 m 2 and was arranged in a completely randomized block design. The following treatments were analyzed: control sample-degraded pasture of signal grass; Marandu grass-pasture renewal from signal grass to Marandu grass; succession 45-planting of sorghum (forage sorghum cv. Volumax) and crop harvest at the height of 45 cm for silage followed by planting of Marandu grass; simultaneous seeding of Marandu grass and sorghum, and crop harvesting for silage at the height of 15 cm (Marandu + sorghum 15) and 45 cm (Marandu + sorghum 45) from the soil surface. After crop harvesting, proportional amounts of green mass remaining from each unit were collected, transferred to nylon bags, and placed in direct contact with the soil of the respective experimental unit. Each bag was opened every 30 days after closure for up to 270 days. In each bag, the DM, and macro-and micronutrients were analyzed, and the percentage of remaining material, daily decomposition rate, and half-life were calculated. The litter of the Marandu + sorghum 45 treatment contained the highest DM, decomposition rate, and nutrient content. The crop succession provided the best condition of the litter, with the highest DM on the soil surface, which improved soil conditions and made the soil less susceptible to degradation.
