Resumo Pesquisas sobre utilização educacional de jogos e brinquedos são comuns em diferentes disciplinas, notadamente em Matemática, porém raros em Geologia, o que incentiva pesquisas sobre jogos geodidáticos. O jogo "Ciclo das Rochas" visa apoiar a aplicação, desenvolvimento e difusão de conceitos de Ciências da Terra, para disciplinas de geologia introdutória do ensino superior. Opera com raciocínios típicos das Geociências e/ou, mais especificamente, da Geologia, em uma estrutura que tem dois níveis de dificuldade (I e II). Para resolver o problema-construir um modelo do Ciclo das Rochas-grupos pequenos de participantes trabalham cooperativa e competitivamente. O jogo é facilmente confeccionado, sendo formado por tabuleiro, cartas geológicas, cartas-dicas e dados comuns de seis faces. O professor pode levar o jogo pronto para aplicar na escola ou orientar a elaboração, em etapas sucessivas, pelos alunos, de acordo com o tempo disponível, objetivos e grau de dificuldade esperado. As cartas geológicas contêm informações necessárias para se completar o tabuleiro. As cartas de processos (vermelhas) incluem os principais processos do ciclo (intemperismo, erosão etc.), enquanto as cartas de produtos (azuis) descrevem materiais geológicos, como, por exemplo, sedimentos, magma e tipos de rocha. A variável complexidade no uso desses termos depende do nível de escolaridade e familiaridade do participante com os conceitos, aspecto que ajuda o professor a adequar o jogo segundo suas necessidades. A utilização prática revelou que os jogos ultrapassam o papel de meros objetos de entretenimento, sendo instrumentos de apoio ao ensino, porque ajudam a disseminar termos e articular conceitos.
