Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia y características de los trastornos de Ansiedad y Depresión en Pacientes con Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2. Materiales y métodos: El Instituto Nacional del Diabético, Honduras, es un centro de investigación, educación y atención a pacientes con DM2. Estudio tipo transversal y descriptivo, con universo de 12,220 pacientes con diagnóstico de DM2 entre marzo a mayo de 2019, con muestra de 372 casos, calculada con Open Epi de Epi Info 7.2, nivel de confianza 95%, con muestreo aleatorio simple. Criterios de Inclusión: ambos sexos, entre 18 y 90 años, más de un año de diagnóstico de DM2 y aceptar participar con consentimiento informado. Resultados: El 100% fueron pacientes con diagnóstico de DM2, con una muestra de 372 casos, media de edad de 57 años, el 81.1% de las mujeres y el 75.9% de los hombres presentaron por lo menos un rasgo de depresión, así como, 95.8% de mujeres y 93.8% de los hombres, tuvieron algún rasgo de ansiedad. El 4.6% de casos no tuvo ningún rasgo de depresión ni de ansiedad. El 79.0% presentaron algún rasgo de depresión y ansiedad. Conclusiones: Los pacientes con Diabetes mellitus tipo 2 tiene mayor predisposición a trastornos del estado de ánimo, debido al impacto emocional que representa la enfermedad, esta predisposición es mayor en primeros años después del diagnóstico de DM2, así como tiene mayor prevalencia en las Hombres.
La Diabetes Mellitus es un problema de salud pública, a nivel mundial se estima que existen aproximadamente 425 millones de personas afectadas, en Honduras para el 2015 reportaron 495,011 personas con Diabetes Mellitus, actualmente se registra que 7%-10% de la población la padece. El Hospital Mario Catarino Rivas (HMCR) es el mayor centro asistencial en San Pedro Sula, donde se brin- dan 1,500 atenciones mensuales a pacientes con la enfermedad. Objetivo: Determinar los factores de riesgo de padecer diabetes en pa- cientes que asisten al HMCR de octubre del 2018 a enero del 2019.Metodología: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, transversal. Poblacíón: 6000 pacientes que asistieron a consulta externa. Muestra: 600 pacientes, calculándose con el programa estadístico Open Epi. Muestreo: fue por conveniencia Instrumento:Cuestionario de Factores de Riesgo FINDRISK para identificar factores de riesgo. Resultados: 37.33% obtuvo un puntaje entre 7-11 puntos teniendo riesgo ligeramente elevado para Diabetes Mellitus, 19.67% adquirieron entre 15-20 puntos y 4.68% obtuvieron más de 20 puntos, lo cual representan tener un riesgo alto y muy alto respectivamente, con una media de 10.9 y una desviación estándar de 5.1; el restante 38.32% no tiene riesgo para Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2. Conclusión: Aproximadamente la cuarta parte de la población que participó en el estudio tiene riesgo alto y muy alto y la media de la población total del estudio presenta riesgo ligeramente elevado.
