En los últimos años Colombia ha aparecido sistemáticamente ubicada en los primeros lugares de diversas mediciones de percepción de la felicidad, esto a pesar de la difícil situación social, económica y política que vive el país. Algunos autores han señalado que esta discrepancia obedece a que la música tropical ha sido construida como un elemento central de la colombianidad, desplazando a las músicas andinas que han sido señaladas a su vez como tristes y melancólicas. Como resultado existe un imaginario que, más allá de la música, opone la “melancolía andina” a al “alegría costeña”, como rasgos identitarios predominantes en la construcción de la identidad nacional.
El trabajo consiste en una descripción de los procesos de identificación que se han dado en los últimos diez años entre un grupo de músicos bogotanos con la música del sur del pacífico colombiano. Esta descripción parte de la noción e articulación desarrollada por Stuart Hall y utiliza la noción de redes elaborada desde la teoría del actor-red para describir las conexiones que unen a los diferentes elementos de la red: individuos, objetos materiales, discursos, eventos, etc. Dentro de las trayectorias que se describen para establecer las condiciones de esta articulación identitaria están: las marcaciones coloniales de la música del sur del Pacífico, los procesos de cambio acelerado que esta música ha sufrido en los últimos años, la identificación de figuras nodales en las ciudades de Guapi y Bogotá y la relación con discursos de alcance global como el multiculturalismo, el patrimonio intangible y la World Music.
