RESUMOO objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar análises morfométrica, físico-química e microbiológica de bananas Pacovan Ken, cultivadas sobre o solo fértil do Tanque de Evapotranspiração, implantado no Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE), Crato, Ceará, Brasil, e avaliar a eficácia desse modelo a partir de parâmetros físicoquímico e bacteriológico do efluente. A intenção foi verificar a viabilidade dessa espécie ser associada à produção de alimentos pelos pequenos agricultores; e, também observar a qualidade do efluente, com vistas à reinserção no ciclo hidrológico. Quanto às bananas, os resultados mostraram parâmetros morfométricos equivalentes aos cultivos comerciais. A análise físico-química contabilizou valores de pH (4,69), sólidos solúveis (21ºBrix) e teor de água (78,50%), concordantes aos achados na literatura. A caracterização microbiológica demonstrou valores de coliformes e Salmonella sp. dentro do exigido pela legislação brasileira. Quanto ao efluente, a análise físico-quimíca evidenciou valores de pH de 7,50 e 7,60 na entrada e na saída, respectivamente, ausência de metais pesados, redução dos níveis de sólidos totais dissolvidos e DQO, condizentes com os encontrados na literatura. A análise bacteriológica apresentou valores próximos aos exigido pelo Ministério da Saúde. A pesquisa demonstrou que o cultivo da banana Pacovan Ken no tanque permite a produção de frutos com características equivalentes a outras áreas; e que os resultados encontrados na análise do efluente indica que o tanque promoveu a melhoria da qualidade da água, que pode ser reinserida após filtração no ciclo hidrológico.
