In Forschungs-und Entwicklungsprojekten mit E-Learning-Bezug wird gerne Open-Source-Software eingesetzt, weil diese leicht und kostengünstig Anpassungen an spezifische Projektanforderungen erlaubt. Diesem Vorteil an Flexibilität steht jedoch ein gravierender Nachteil gegenüber. Durch das individuelle Anpassen der Software kann diese nicht mehr ohne Weiteres auf neue Versionen aktualisiert werden. Entweder gehen die gemachten Änderungen beim Update verloren. Oder durch die Änderungen werden automatisierte Update-Prozesse blockiert und machen aufwendige manuelle Anpassungen notwendig. Auch wird die Weitergabe von Entwicklungen, die auf der angepassten Software basieren, eingeschränkt. Denn bei anderen Institutionen sind diese spezifischen Softwareanpassungen in der Regel nicht vorhanden. Kompatibilität ist damit nicht gegeben. Vor diesem Dilemma stand zu Projektstart auch das optes-Team. Zwar wurde schon in der Antragsphase entschieden, ILIAS als Lernplattform für verschiedene der geplanten Anwendungsszenarien in optes zu nutzen. 1 Aber gerade bei zentralen Features wie dem Kursmanagement oder dem Test-Tool entstanden in den Teilprojekten schnell Anforderungen, die die bisherigen Versionen von ILIAS nicht erfüllen konnten. Im Hinblick auf den straffen Zeitplan des Projekts sollten diese Anforderungen rasch erfüllt werden, um die gewünschten Prototypen und Piloten zeitnah umsetzen und in der Praxis austesten zu können. Zugleich sollten diese erweiterten ILIAS-Funktionen künftig auch von anderen Anwender*innen verwendet werden können. Denn es war ein erklärtes Ziel des Projekts, entwickelte Angebote den Hochschulen zur Verfügung zu stellen, die nicht zum Projektkonsortium gehören. 2 Damit dieser erweiterte Anwenderkreis die entsprechenden optes-Angebote aber nutzen kann, mussten die Kurse, Tests und anderen Angebote auf einem Standard-ILIAS 3 laufen. Dies bedeutete, alle gewünschten Anpassungen und Weiterentwicklungen entweder in den Kern von 1 Zu den Vor-und Nachteilen beim Einsatz eines Lernmanagementsystems für das optes-Projekt siehe auch Kapitel 2. 2 Zur Bereitstellung der Projektergebnisse als Open Educational Resources siehe Kapitel 26. 3 Mit Standard-ILIAS ist die jeweils offizielle Version von ILIAS gemeint, die über GitHub der Allgemeinheit zum Download bereitgestellt wird und deren Quellcode nicht nachträglich angepasst worden ist.
Selbstlernmaterialien, Übungsmöglichkeiten, formative Assessments und Unterstützung in diesen Lern-und Arbeitsphasen sind Bausteine, die sich für gewöhnlich in Online-aber auch Präsenzbrückenkursen oder-vorkursen finden-wenn auch der Fokus sich von Angebot zu Angebot unterscheiden mag. Studierfähigkeit zu Studienbeginn ist in Zeiten von und nach dem Bologna-Prozess das Credo von selbstbestimmtem, selbstorganisiertem und vor allem kompetenzorientiertem Lernen. Doch wie lässt sich dies in Zeiten von stetig wachsenden Blended-und Distance-Learning-Szenarien verzahnen? Vorkurse inmitten des Übergangs Schule-Hochschule bergen eine heterogene Zielgruppe von Bald-Studierenden. Heterogen in ihrem Vorwissen, heterogen in den Lern-und Arbeitsmethoden, die aus der individuellen Schulkarriere mitgebracht werden, heterogen in Bezug auf den Kontakt und die Selbstverständlichkeit, mit digitalen Lernangeboten zu arbeiten, heterogen in der Fähigkeit sich selbst zu organisieren oder sich selbst, auch im Bezug zu der unbekannten Grundgesamtheit von baldigen Kommiliton*innen, in der eigenen Leistungsfähigkeit einzuschätzen. Zur Vermittlung zwischen der inhaltlichen Ebene (vorrangig Mathematik), der sozialen Ebene ("E-Mentoring"-siehe Kapitel 18) und Peer-Learning) und den einzelnen Lernenden dient das sogenannte E-Portfolio. Bereits seit der ersten Förderphase von optes stellt das E-Portfolio der einzelnen Studierenden das Bindeglied zwischen inhaltlicher Arbeit in den Kursen, den damit verbundenen formativen Assessments und der Lernprozessbegleitung über E-Mentor*innen dar. Diese Verzahnung ist eines der Alleinstellungsmerkmale der Angebote von optes. Das Portfolio in optes ist mit Sicherheit ein wenig anders als andere Portfolio-Szenarien und-Anwendungen. Das ist bereits in seiner oben angedeuteten Funktion begründet. Mit Portfolio-Arbeit soll Reflexion angeregt werden. Das Portfolio stellt dabei den Ort der Reflexion bzw. die Ablage der Reflexionen dar. Im klassischen Sinne des (gleich ob analogen oder digitalen) Portfolios steht reflexives Schreiben im Vordergrund. 1 Die Sache oder die Situation, der sich die Reflexion widmet, oder auch die Rekapitulation der persönlichen Entwicklungsschritte, findet für gewöhnlich außerhalb des Portfolios statt-externe Auslöser, deren Aufarbeitung dann im Portfolio mündet. optes ist über seine beiden Förderphasen hinweg ein vielseitiges und vielschichtiges Projekt. Es wurden viele inhaltliche und methodische Angebote entwickelt, so ist optes in vielerlei Aspekten ein Forschungs-und Organisationsentwicklungs-, aber vor allem auch ein Praxisprojekt. Der projektinterne Anspruch, entwickelte Angebote inhaltlich und methodisch innovativ, zielgruppenorientiert, attraktiv in der Bedienung und verständlich in der Nutzung zu gestalten, macht optes aber auch zu einem Softwareentwicklungsprojekt. Auch für Aspekte der Lernprozessbegleitung, der Nutzerführung und für erleichterte Kommunikation wurden diverse Softwareentwicklungen angestoßen. Dabei kann und soll hier nur eine Auswahl beleuchtet werden. 1 Bedarfe der Lernprozessbegleitung Blended-Learning-und Distance-Learning-Szenarien erfordern Maßnahmen bzw. offenbaren Bedarfe, die in klassischen Präsenzsituationen nicht oder nicht im gleichen Maß erforderlich sind. Nun gibt es eine Vielzahl von Gelingensbedingungen, die auf wissenschaftlichen (Praxis-)Untersuchungen, auf mediendidaktischen Grundannahmen oder lerntheoretischen Konstrukten fußen-der Verbund, der sich in optes ganz praktischen Problemen gegenübersah und sich aufgrund ähnlicher Problemhaushalte bildete, brachte aber auch ganz eigene gemeinsame Erfahrungswerte und Weiterentwicklungsbedarfe ein. Allen gemein war der Wunsch danach, ILIAS als ein mächtiges Lernmanagementsystem zu verwenden, mit dem diese Bedarfe bereits in Teilen zu decken waren. Mentorielle und systemseitige Unterstützung Lernprozessbegleitung als Akt der Beratung oder der Unterstützung wird in optes-Konzepten und in der Praxis von E-Mentor*innen 2 gelebt. Mentor*innen als Begleitende können vielfältige Angebote machen, schließlich gibt es in der eigenen und auch an anderen Institutionen Erfahrungswerte, womit und wodurch den Stu-1 Generelles zum Thema Softwareentwicklung in optes in Kapitel 27. 2 Als E-Mentor*innen sind an der TH OWL Studierende höherer Semester tätig. Andere Projektpartner haben dieses Konzept auf die eigenen Rahmenbedingungen adaptiert. Zum Thema E-Mentoring siehe Kapitel 18.
