The article presents the results of study of the positions of university graduates in the Russian labor market. The relevance of the subject is due to the fact that getting higher education instead of starting to work directly after school is now considered a social norm, and the fact that the structure of training in specialties and its quality, as stated by the top officials, does not meet the needs of the economy. The research is based on data of the first selective observation of employment of graduates of Rosstat, obtained in 2016, and the Ministry of Education and Science monitoring of graduates employment of 2015-2017. In the paper we assess the employment rate of young people with higher education by age groups; highlight regional features of university graduates employment; evaluate employment characteristics by groups of specialties; we study the distribution of employed university graduates by types of economic activity in comparison with the all-Russian structure of employment. It is concluded, that with an increase in the level of education the probability of success employment, including finding a job in the specialty, increases; and that job satisfaction is higher for those who work in their professional field. For NEET youth with higher education, recommendations on how to integrate into the labor market relations have been suggested.
Until 2021, in Russia youth is the population aged 15 to 29 years old, which is forming the labor potential of the country. Currently, the share of young people is 15% of the total population of Russia. This group is not homogeneous. It includes students of the secondary education system, and students of the vocational education system, and young professionals. This article analyzes how young people enter the labor market, what are the characteristics of their work, what is the participation of specialists, who have received a diploma of vocational education, in work, how the period of the coronavirus pandemic has affected the labor market and youth employment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of youth employment in modern Russia and identify promising options for gaining experience while combining work with education.
Young people have enormous potential for labour market development of every country. The purpose of this research is to examine the ways in which the Covid-pandemic affected youth employment in Russia by assessing the relevant indicators of the past decade and describing the relationship between the crucial characteristics of three subcategories of youth and the changes in employment patterns in response to the pandemic shock. It also identifies the specific factors that determined the transformation of the Russian labour market during the pandemic. The results can provide policy-makers with guidance on how to cope with youth employment risks and help the young people assess their prospects for employment and manage their career paths.
Aim. The presented study aims to determine the key employment parameters that allow bachelor’s and master’s degree students to combine work with professional education in the optimal way and help people enrolled on further professional education to maintain a balance between work and family functions.Tasks. The authors analyze surveys of bachelor’s and master’s degree undergraduates and graduates of continuing professional education (CPE) programs of the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).Methods. This study uses general logical methods: dialectical, logical, comparative, and systems analysis; methods of sociological research, including public surveys.Results. The authors identify major employment characteristics that help working students maintain high academic performance and positively affect the work-family balance of older people receiving further professional education.Conclusions. Increased flexibility of the labor market in the form of more part-time job offers could make a significant contribution to maintaining and improving the quality of training of students who combine work and studies, which is especially relevant for bachelor’s degree students. Diversifying the available forms of employment can positively affect the decision to gain intitial professional experience while studying at the university. Due to the development of remote employment, the forms of occupation available to students need to be further studied in detail.
