Even though many studies have been conducted to understand and model the passive response of arteries, very few studies have been performed to develop constitutive equation for the active response of arteries and to perform numerical simulations. In this paper, the diffusion of the neurotransmitter, for example noradrenaline, is combined with the anisotropic constitutive model to describe the temporal contraction of the smooth muscle cells in the artery wall.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
