Broom for confirmation. In view of the nearly equal titres for both L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. canicola, a crossabsorption test was carried out. Dr. Broom's result is shown in Table II, clearly demonstrating L. canicola as the infecting organism. In addition, agglutination reactions against L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. canicola were performed on blood samples from the patient's wife and eight children, and from three of his workmates.
