This study aimed to analyse the relation of nutritional status, physical activity or oxidative stress with cognitive function of pre-elderly and elderly. A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted on 40 pre-elderly and 35 elderly subjects who were admitted to the Integrated Development Post Program (Posbindu) between September 2014 and January 2015. Anthropometric measurements (weight and height), physical activity, and biochemical data (oxidized low-density lipoprotein[Ox-LDL] and serum malondialdehyd [MDA]) were obtained. Nutritional status was assessed through body mass index (BMI), while the cognitive function was measured by Rey Osterrieth Complex Figure (ROCF) and Digit Span Backward. The data were analysed using an independent t-test and Spearman's test with a confidence level of 95%. The study showed that the prevalence of malnutrition among the pre-elderly and elderly were 60.0% and 80.0%, respectively. Concerning physical activity, those who belonged to inactive-sedentary activity based on physical activity level (PAL) ratio were 55.0% and 45.7%, respectively. There were no significant differences in Ox-LDL, MDA levels and cognitive function (p>0.05). Significant negative correlations existed between Ox-LDL and immediate visual memory function (r=-0.289; p<0.05), as well as between Ox-LDL and delayed visual memory function (r=-0.288; p<0.05). The conclusion that visual memory function was only correlated with Ox-LDL.
<p>ABSTRACT</p><p>The research aimed to assess the impact of interventions to the behaviour changes of household food consumption and to search the role of community institutions in accelerating the achievement of the millennium eco-village. The study involved thirty households in Desa Petir, Dramaga Subdistrict, District of Bogor (15 agricultural and 15 non agricultural-households). Pre and post test method was used to analyze the behaviour change, and focused group discussions were conducted to explore initiatives of the community group toward eco-village. The results indicated the changes of expenditure proportion for food and non food. At the agricultural households, changes are from 61.7% to 53.9%, whereas in the non agricultural household, the changes are from 59.9% to 41%. Food consumption for under five children become more diverse, nutritious, and balanced. Life Style on Clean Life and Health (PHBS) on family farmers and non farmers become better. Cooperation between community groups, local leaders, the government, and facilitators could strengthen institution to enable real action towards the millennium eco-village.</p><p>Key words: food consumption, MDGs, social institutions</p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p>Tujuan penelitian secara umum adalah untuk mengembangkan model millennium eco-village melalui intervensi prinsip eco-village. Sebanyak 30 keluarga terpilih sebagai subjek yang terdiri dari 15 keluarga petani (KP) dan 15 keluarga non-petani (KNP). Metode penelitian pre dan post digunakan untuk mengukur dampak intervensi terhadap perubahan pengetahuan, sikap, dan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) dan peran kelembagaan masyarakat dalam percepatan pencapaian MDGs. Hasil menunjukkan perubahan pada proporsi pengeluaran pangan dan non pangan, yakni pada KP dari 61.7% menjadi 53.9%, sedangkan pada KNP dari 59.9% menjadi 41%. Meskipun perubahan antara kedua kelompok tersebut tidak signifikan, namun terdapat peningkatan dalam kesejahteraan petani. Terjadi perbaikan status gizi balita yang signifikan (p=0.009). Terjadi perubahan konsumsi pangan balita menjadi lebih Beragam, Bergizi, dan Berimbang (3B). PHBS pada KP maupun KNP menjadi lebih baik. Kerjasama antara kelompok masyarakat, pemimpin informal, pemerintah desa, dan kader desa dapat memperkuat kelembagaan sosial.</p><p>Kata kunci: kelembagaan sosial, konsumsi pangan, MDGs<br /><br /></p>
The decline in the number of COVID-19 does not return people's conditions to the period before the pandemic. Efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are still being carried out by implementing health protocols and keeping the body's immunity in top shape, one of which is by consuming balanced nutritious foods high in antioxidants. The research aims to develop high-antioxidant biscuits made from local flour and spices as a functional snack to increase the body's immune system. The research was held from September 2021 until January 2022 at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. The research design was experimental, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The biscuit formulation process was carried out by substituting wheat flour with purple sweet potato flour at five different ratios (4:0, 3:1, 2:2, 1:3, 0:4) and adding seven types of spices (Ginger, Cinnamon, Turmeric, Kencur, Lemongrass, Curcuma, and Cloves) with the same amount for each formula—a total of 30 semi-trained panelists in the sensory test. Data were analyzed using Kruskal Wallis. Proximate analysis and antioxidant analysis using the AOAC method and DPPH method. The results showed that the selected formula based on the sensory test was F2 with a ratio of wheat flour to purple sweet potato flour of 2:2. The hedonic test showed that there were significant differences in the color, texture, and aftertaste on biscuits (p=0,000, p=0,031, p=0,023 respectively). F2 is the formula the panelists chose, which has nutrition facts that meets SNI biscuits (2011) and has intense antioxidant activity (14,6 ug/mg).
Latar belakang: Imunitas tubuh yang kuat dibutuhkan agar terhindar dari paparan virus, bakteri dan parasit. Asupan gizi yang dapat meningkatkan imunitas tubuh yaitu antioksidan. Rempah dan kurma merupakan salah satu pangan sumber antioksidan. Tujuan: Menganalisis aktivitas antioksidan dan kandungan gizi biskuit rempah dengan penambahan sari kurma untuk imunitas tubuh. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan studi eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Terdapat lima formula biskuit rempah dengan perlakuan yang berbeda yaitu F0 (tanpa sari kurma), F1 (20 gram sari kurma), F2 (30 gram sari kurma), F3 (40 gram sari kurma), F4 (50 gram sari kurma) yang diujikan kepada 30 panelis semi terlatih. Analisis data menggunakan uji Anova dan uji lanjut Duncan. Analisis aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan metode AEAC, dan analisis kandungan gizi menggunakan uji proksimat. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa F2 dengan penambahan sari kurma 30gram merupakan formula yang paling disukai panelis dengan aktivitas antioksidan (IC50) 513,8 ppm, kandungan energi 478 kkal/100 g, kadar protein 4,69%, dan kadar lemak total 25,09%. Simpulan: Biskuit rempah terpilih dengan penambahan sari kurma 30 gram, memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat lemah (513,8 ppm) dengan kadar protein, kadar air, dan kadar abu yang belum memenuhi SNI biskuit.
Angka kejadian anemia di Indonesia terbilang masih cukup tinggi. Berdasarkan Riskesdas 2018, prevalensi anemia pada remaja sebesar 32%, artinya 3 dari 10 remaja menderita anemia. Salah datu penyebab anemia pada remaja adalah kurangnya asupan zat besi. Namun disetiap wilayah dimungkinkan terdapat perbedaan factor penyebab. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan asupan zat besi, asupan vitamin C, kepatuhan konsumsi tablet tambah darah, dan pengetahuan dengan kejadian anemia pada remaja putri di SMP IT Majmaul Bahrain Tenjolaya Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross-sectional dengan sampel 95 orang remaja putri yang diambil dengan cara consecutive sampling. Variabel dependen adalah kejadian anemia, sedangkan variable independent adalah asupan zat besi, vitamin C, kepatuhan konsumsi Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) dan pengetahuan mengenai anemia. Pengambilan data menggunakan kuesioner dengan teknik wawancara. Analisis statistik menggunakan uji Chi-square. Prevalensi kejadian anemia remaja putri di SMP IT Majmaul Bahrain sebesar 54,7%. Sebagian besar responden memiliki asupan zat besi kategori kurang (54,7%), asupan vitamin C kategori kurang (51,6%). Sebanyak 62,3% responden terkategori tidak patuh dalam mengkonsumsi TTD dan 61,1% responden memiliki pengetahuan tentang anemia kategori kurang baik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara asupan zat besi, vitamin C, kepatuhan konsumsi TTD dan tingkat pengetahuan dengan kejadian anemia pada remaja putri di SMP IT Majmaul Bahrain Bogor.
