This study was conducted to evaluate the various causes and prevalence of various dermatological disorders that induce alopecia in dogs during the period from July 2019 to June 2021. Out of 485 from 2225 (21.7%) dog cases reported in clinic of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Zagazig University in addition to some private clinics in Zagazig, Cairo and El-Obour city. Dogs had different dermatological disorders with alopecia. Mange was the most common dermatological disorder followed by flea infestation then pruritus due to tick infestation, dermatitis, food allergic reaction, Nutritional alopecia dermatophytosis and pyoderma were the less common causes.Dermatological disorders were reported throughout the year but were more common in the summer (38.8%), spring (30.3%) and were less common in the autumn and winter (17.1%& 13.8%) respectively. The canines less than a one year were the ones who suffered the most (36.3% %). Alopecia affects (59.7%) of male dogs and 40.2 %of female canines. During the study period, epidemiological analysis of alopecia, data revealed an increasing skin disorder among dogs, which could be due to increased awareness among dog owners about their pets' health, an increase in the pet population, or the environment becoming more favorable for the various etiological agents of skin disorders causing alopecia. There was a significant decrease of Hb. content, PCV, RBCs and WBCs in dogs with nutritional alopecia. Nutritional alopecia occurs mainly due to deficiency of copper "Cu" and zinc "Zn".
The objectives of this study were to apply different methods for diagnosis of caprine pneumonia and to study the correlation between vitamin D concentration and the immunoglobulin's (IgG, IgM, IgA) in goats up to one year in response to pneumonia. From October 2018 to February 2021, a total of 107 baladi goats were examined; 20 apparently healthy goats used as control group (group I, n=20) and 87 pneumonic Baladi goats were diagnosed on the basis of clinical symptoms, ultrasonographic, chest x-ray findings. Serum vitamin D, IgG, IgM and IgA levels were also measured. Pneumonic goats (group II, n= 87) were subdivided into two groups according to their vitamin D levels; pneumonic goat with normal vitamin D level (groupII a, n= 38) and pneumonic goat with decreased vitamin D levels (groupIIb, n= 49). Pneumonic goats were presented with fever, dullness, tachypnoea, bilateral mucoid or mucopurulent/purulent nasal discharge, cough, dyspnea and abnormal lung auscultation. Ultrasonography, the pneumonic consolidation exhibits a liver like echotexture. Abnormality in the chest x-ray revealed increased opacity that may be more gray or white and cotton wool like appearance. Pneumonic goats with reduced vitamin D concentration (group IIb) also revealed significantly lower IgG and IgM concentrations in comparison to both group I and group II a. Vitamin D was positively correlated with IgG. Histopathologically, the pneumonic lesions include interstitial pneumonia, acute suppurative bronchopneumonia and acute fibrinous bronchopneumonia. On the basis of all findings, decrease vitamin D level may be important predisposing factors for occurrence of pneumonia in goats up to1years.
Background: Over the past ten years, ova cryopreservation technology has advanced substantially, allowing women greater choices for their future reproductive lives. Aim of the study: Evaluate effect of educational program on university nursing students' knowledge regarding ova cryopreservation technology. Subjects and Method: Research design: Quazi experimental design (pre & posttest) was adopted to carry out this study. Setting: The study was conducted at faculty of nursing, at Zagazig University. Subjects: Multistage cluster random sample composed of 200 nursing students. Tools of data collection: Two tools were used for data collection. Tool I: A structured interviewing questionnaire which composed of demographic Characteristic. Tool II: Knowledge Assessment Tool (pre/post) Results: The study's findings indicated that overall student understanding of ova cryopreservation had changed significantly (P ≤0.001) after the implementation of an educational program. Only 9.0% of the students who were studied prior to the implementation of the educational program had a fair level of overall understanding of ova cryopreservation. After the implementation of the instructional program, the majority (85.0%) had changed. Conclusion: It was concluded that educational program significantly improve university nursing student's knowledge regarding ova cryopreservation technology. Recommendations: A simplified and comprehensive booklet about ova cryopreservation should be available for all students, More efforts needed by the health care system, educational institutions, and all public media to reduce the gab in fertility awareness between the youth.
Background: Cousin marriage is a global health issue with a number of negative health and social effects. Aim of the study: To evaluate the effect of educational package about Genetic and Reproductive Consequences of Cousin Marriage on Nursing Students' Knowledge and Attitude. Subjects and Method: Research design: A quasi-experimental design was used to achieve the aim of this study. Setting: The study was conducted in the Faculty of Nursing, Zagazig University, Subjects: 221 undergraduate nursing students at the 1 st semester of academic third year (2022/ 2023). Tools of data collection: Three data collection tools were used Tool I: A Structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, Tool II: knowledge assessment sheet, Tool Ill: a Likert scale for assessment of students' attitude. Results:The study indicated that more than two thirds of the studied students had total correct knowledge and more than four fifth had a positive attitude regarding consanguineous marriage post-intervention. Conclusions: A significant improvement of student's knowledge and attitude related to cousin marriage and genetic disorders influence offspring after educational sessions was revealed. Recommendations: Based on this finding, the study suggested incorporating premarital counseling ideas related to consanguineous marriage into curricula at undergraduate universities.
