There are two categories in which educator can deliver open distance learning (ODL) via an internet connection, namely Synchronous Online Learning (OL-sync) and Asynchronous Online Learning (OL-async). At Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang (UiTMCPP), lecturers could conduct ODL in OL-sync or OL-async due to MCO which was enforced on March 18, 2020. Therefore, this study was conducted to compare the influence of different learning styles with OL-sync and OL-async on UiTMCPP students' academic achievement during the COVID-19 crisis. This study will present the data analysis of research quantitatively. Independent sample ttest is going to employ, and the result indicates a significant difference between the mean of the two online learning approaches with a significant value of 0.004. Therefore, we can conclude that the OL-synch approach gives better result in students' academic performance. It is consistent with the findings of Duncan (2012), which recommend that online learning of the synchronous approach will give a better academic performance for the students.
e-Learning has become the most important supporting tool offering independent learning style among students. The main idea of this paper is to dismantle and analyse factors that influence the acceptance of e-Learning among students in higher education. An online questionnaire link was distributed to a sample comprising 123 respondents. Significant relationships and strength of relationship were observed between the e-Learning acceptance, quality, e-Learning self-efficacy, enjoyment, accessibility, and computer playfulness. The findings showed that all factors were positively correlated to the e-Learning system except the enjoyment of e-learning that did not affect the acceptance of e-learning. Conclusively, all factors stated were considered the main criteria in designing effective e-learning system. Future works such as embedding and integrating multimedia elements in the e-learning system will be additional attraction to learners and instructors for the effective learning style.
Safety and health are important factors of any organization to ensure smooth and effective functioning. Occupational safety and health (OSH) awareness among the workers in the prevention of occupational injuries and illness. Various programmes have been implemented by the government and private organizations to increase the knowledge and awareness of OSH in the workplace including among institution higher learning staff in Malaysia. A study was undertaken to identify factors influencing the awareness level of OSH among the staff of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Pulau Pinang Malaysia. A self-administered online questionnaire was distributed to the staff through UiTM email and 193 staff had responded. The questionnaire covered 43 questions and was divided into seven (7) factors that influence awareness level. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 and presented in descriptive statistics. The study revealed that the highest level of awareness factor was OSH policy with a mean score of 4.90 while the lowest level factor was safety and health committee with a mean score of 3.90. The analysis of all factors indicated that non-academic staff awareness towards OSH is higher than academic staff with a mean score of 4.51 and 4.41 respectively. The university management should increase the role of the safety and health committee so that it can conduct more safety and health activities such as safety talks, training, and campaign through posters and signage on the campus. Good OSH management is very important to prevent an accident at the workplace towards the development of a safety culture.
The pandemic COVID-19 has changed the world to the new norms with tightened standard operating procedure (SOP) to restraint the virus transmission and infection in the community. The education ministry has instructed and advised all instructors at schools, colleges and university to change their current pedagogical method from face to face to appropriate elearning methods as effective alternative. The main objective of this project is to examine the effectiveness of Open Distance Learning (ODL) as a new pedagogical method in teaching and learning (T&L). This paper will observe and evaluate group of undergraduate students' performance with Open Distance Learning (ODL) approach in one semester duration during the Movement Control Order (MCO), COVID-19. The finalized formative and summative assessments aggregation results for each student was gathered from one particular programming subject for undergraduate engineering students. The aggregation results were used to compare an ODL approach which was implemented in the recent semester, with the conventional approach which was practiced in the previous semester. The data analysis shows that an ODL methods has no significance on students' performance. Finally, the project future improvement is suggested at the last section of this paper.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
