Planning process has a significant impact on the ability of a construction project to success. This is the stage where the detailed directions are given which would affect the whole course of the project. The process is argued to be the most crucial stage which the principles of sustainability are integrated throughout the whole life of building. The purpose of this research was to investigate the Malaysian building project stakeholders' perspectives on the most significant strategies to integrate sustainability principles into the whole life of building through the project planning process. From the review of available literatures, there are 21 strategies to integrate sustainability principles during a building project planning process have been unveiled. A total of 357 Malaysian project stakeholders who have been directly involved in sustainable building project and/or the stakeholders who are judged to be knowledgeable on the project were selected to be contributed for questionnaire survey. The collected data were analyzed using cronbach's alpha measurement to assess their internal reliability, and frequency and descriptive analysis to measure the relative importance of the factors. The result shows that all the 21 strategies (the factors) to integrate sustainability during a project planning process were identified by the respondents to be very crucial to be implemented throughout the planning process of a sustainable building project in Malaysia. This paper offers ideas and recommendations on the sustainability integration strategies to be practiced throughout the project planning process towards delivering a successful sustainable building project. The concept is very useful to be a starting point for the development of a practical 'Sustainability Integration Framework' during the planning process of a sustainable building project in the future.

Green building has attracted increasing attention in recent years and the concept has a positive impact on the environment when adopted in the field of housing development. This study aims to explore the drivers and strategies that should be developed in order to encourage green building project delivery in housing development. This study uses an empirical approach that combines case study, quantitative, and qualitative methods. First, a questionnaire survey was distributed to housing developers in the Klang Valley (KV). A total of 234 developers returned completed questionnaires. The results of the quantitative analysis, based on descriptive statistics, Cronbach"s alpha, correlation, and multiple regression analysis showed that social and cultural drivers have the greatest effect on green building project delivery by housing developers. Next, the quantitative findings were applied to a qualitative case study and two companies in KV were investigated. Finally, the results were validated by interviewing five experts in the industry. The results of the experts" interviews not only validated the findings obtained from the quantitative and qualitative analysis, but also provided in-depth explanations for the identified drivers and strategies.

The upsetting number of crime occurring in the cities evokes the fear of crime among the civilians. In order to provide a good quality of living environment, a safe city planning must be implemented. To achieve this, several safe city concepts are reviewed. This paper aim to study several safe city concepts done by other researchers. In order to search for the best safe city concepts, a qualitative method research which involves content analysis is the most suitable approach to be employed in this study. This research will develop a new safe city conceptual framework based on the synergy of the previous studies. It is noted that the main concept of safe city planning are the activities and proposition of land use planning, identification of hot spot crime areas, improvement of physical environment and public transport system and appropriate surveillance.

Sustainable development has received encouraging attention since the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development was signed in 1992 Earth Summit. In Malaysia, the focus on sustainability in building, especially in devising policies has been spelled out in the government policies at national, state and local level. It can be considered that many efforts relating to sustainability in building project have been implemented in the country, however till now sustainability in Malaysian building projects are still remain without proven. It was revealed that most of the current frameworks of sustainability in the country are not equipped to handle sustainable building project. It is often encouraged environmental measure in most cases, yet the rest of measures are less promoted. To response to the issues, this study therefore aims to explore the sustainability principles of building through the review of relevant literatures. Content analysis is used to identify the principles in the sustainability literature relevant to building projects. A theoretical framework of sustainability principles of building was then formulated to be the main outcome of the study. The framework consists of a list of 29 sustainability principles of building to be taken into account throughout the project development process. The findings is very important to be a useful starting point for future study, especially for formulating a clear guide for the development of upcoming sustainable building projects to its actual meaning.

Students' psychological ability to adapt to disaster conditions will be determined by their location in places prone to eruption disasters. However, psychological abilities are often forgotten because their effects are not directly visible. This study aims to find out the role of psychological adaptation on student behavior in disaster-prone areas of Mount Merapi. This is a quantitative correlational research and the subjects are high school students who live in Mount Merapi's disaster-prone area III. In this study, data was collected using questionnaires, interviews and observations and data was analyzed using regression analysis. The results showed that psychological abilities affect students' behavior in adapting to the conditions of the Mount Merapi eruption. In addition, adaptation is unrelated to gender; female and male students should have equal knowledge and awareness of the Mount Merapi eruption disaster. Female students also need to be involved in every process of disaster adaptation in order to create a resilient generation in the future.
