Hotel customers are demanding better services, propelling the industry from standardised services, towards customised services. Evidence was seen in the form of increasing trend in the demand of this focused segment. Hoteliers take this opportunity to offer what is called Shariah compliant hotel due to its enormous economic gain. However the concept is still relatively new to many hoteliers with no established model of the Shariah compliance as guideline. Hence, we introduce SIHAT or Shariah Islamic Hotel Assessment Tool, a comprehensive model generated from an exploratory study of Shariah-compliant hotels in Malaysia. SIHAT is meant to serve as an audit tool, used in assessing Shariah compliance level. SIHAT has five main practices namely administration, common areas, bedroom, services and food and beverages, with 64 attributes. Our findings are useful as inputs of operation procedures for hoteliers that seek to attract Muslim travellers in Malaysia and globally.
The purpose of this research is (1) to examine the integration impact of IT assets (e.g., intangible IT resources, IT capability, and IT flexibility) on core competency, and (2) to explore the mediating effect of core competency on the relationship between IT assets and sustainable competitive advantage (SCA), and (3) to determine whether IT flexibility strengthen the relationship between core competency and SCA. The study applied a quantitative and cross-sectional approach to collect data from 164 Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) targeting managers from the middle-to-upper level. The findings infer new insights regarding IT integration's critical role within core competency activities to achieve SCA. The results show that IT assets possess a positive and significant impact on core competency (CC), and CC positively impact SCA. Problem statement:This study discusses the results of a survey conducted on academic researchers working on biotechnology related research from four leading research universities in Malaysia. The analyses used in this study are essentially exploratory and broadly seeks to address the research question of interest, i.e., to document any differences in opinion between demographic backgrounds group. Approach: Factor analysis and reliability tests were conducted to identify dimensions of commercialization activities and to determine statistical reliability of the dimensions. Subsequently, a series of one-way ANOVA tests were conducted to examine whether perceptions on commercialization activities results differ based on the demographic background of the researchers. Results: The result of this study revealed significant differences in perceptions on commercialization initiatives particularly with regards to years of research experience, experience as administrator/top level management at university level and job status. Conclusion/Recommendation: Qualitative studies were recommended to complement this exploratory study.
This study aims to explore issues of commercialization activities of research results among academic researchers who work in biotechnology-related researches in Malaysian Research Universities. Accordingly, the conceptual framework based on the ‘Innovation Implementation’ model has been assessed for its applicability in describing the phenomenon under study. Through interviews, elements as specified in the ‘Innovation Implementation’ model were found in this case study. Significant patterns and themes were also identified that suggest local industries, funding for research, development and commercialization as well as leadership, political interference, researcher’s attitude, transition management and legal perspectives are considered as the contextual factors that affect the commercialization activities of research results. Finally, the revised framework of commercialization-activities implementation based on the findings from qualitative analysis was recommended. Keywords: Commercialization activities, research results, biotechnology, academic researchers and qualitative analysis.
The aim of the current paper is to provide a valid and reliable instrument to ensure accurate results. Studies published on the supply chain and leagile supply chain (LASC) and information sharing (IS) as well as their impacts on supply chain performance (SCP) were reviewed, the measurements of the dimensions were adapted and developed, and the validity and reliability for the measures of the LASC, IS, and SCP dimensions were assessed. This assessment was done in two tests: the pre-test to establish the validity of the measures by experts and the pilot test to check the reliability of the measurements using SPSS.V.25. In the pre-test, the comments made by seven academician experts and four practitioners were used to rephrase items and to modify them according to the requirements of the manufacturing industries and in accordance with the Iraq context. Moreover, in the pilot test, some important factors were identified: on average, respondents took about 15 to 20 minutes to complete the questionnaire, and all the items were reliable and were sufficiently correlated with their constructs. The paper focuses on providing valid and reliable measurements for LASC, IS, and SCP as well as the developed measurements used for the decoupling point and testing them.
The purpose of the study is to examine the predictors that influencing sustainable behaviour among students in public universities in Malaysia. For this reason, this paper seeks to address the research problem about the issue of the sustainability development due to the behaviour problems regardingthe environmental issues. In the current globalization arena, government of each countries facing challenges and keep on finding the better ways to manage environmental problems that occurred in Malaysia and enhance sustainable behaviour among societies. For that governments in each countries including Malaysia have been spent huge amount of money for the development and program that increase awarenessand knowledgeamong them. At this vein, investigation on factors that sustainable behaviour is important.Previous studies show little evidence about the relationship between sustainable behaviour and spirituality. Thus, this study found that spirituality plays effective role in influencing sustainable behaviour among students. Therefore, this study is the conceptual paper that addressing the effect of spirituality and knowledge in influencing sustainable behaviour among students.
Environmental sustainability is the primary task of environmental entrepreneurship by critically handling increased institutional, customer, and environmental pressures. Green entrepreneurship orientation (GEO) seeks to harmonize their relationships with the external environment to foster the impact of green innovation performance (GIP) on environmental performance (EP). Drawing upon the natural resource-based view, the study examines the effect of green entrepreneurship orientation on GIP and EP. Additionally, the moderating effect of managerial environmental concerns (MEC) on this relationship is also inspected. The results revealed that green absorptive capacity (GAC), environmental cooperation (EC), and MEC significantly affect GEO. Furthermore, GEO positively influenced GIP and EP. Indeed, GEO partially mediates GAC, EC, and managerial concern’s relationship on green innovation and EP. Additionally, MEC significantly moderates the relationship between GEO and EP. Firms GEO should adequately enhance green practices performance and environmental performance to accommodate their external environment relationships. Theoretical and practical implications were also presented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
