Abstract:The main objective of this paper is to present a systematic review of the VlseKriterijuska Optimizacija I Komoromisno Resenje (VIKOR) method in several application areas such as sustainability and renewable energy. This study reviewed a total of 176 papers, published in 2004 to 2015, from 83 high-ranking journals; most of which were related to Operational Research, Management Sciences, decision making, sustainability and renewable energy and were extracted from the "Web of Science and Scopus" databases. Papers were classified into 15 main application areas. Furthermore, papers were categorized based on the nationalities of authors, dates of publications, techniques and methods, type of studies, the names of the journals and studies purposes. Theresults of this study indicated that more papers on VIKOR technique were published in 2013 than in any other year. In addition, 13 papers were published about sustainability and renewable energy fields. Furthermore, VIKOR and fuzzy VIKOR methods, had the first rank in use. Additionally, the Journal of Expert Systems with Applications was the most significant journal in this study, with 27 publications on the topic. Finally, Taiwan had the first rank from 22 nationalities which used VIKOR technique.
The main objective of this study was to examine the direct and indirect effects of organizational culture, knowledge management and organizational learning on innovation. The study combined knowledge-based view theory (KBV), competitive value framework to develop a new original theoretical framework for investigation of factors that affect innovation. Data was gathered from a survey of 279 companies supplying automobile parts to Iran Khodro Company, an Iranian leading automobile manufacturer. Study discovered that organizational culture and knowledge management influenced organizational innovation. Besides that, organizational learning played a significant role as a mediator in that relationship. However, knowledge management was not considered as a mediator in the relationship between organizational culture and organizational innovation. As a practical contribution, the findings of the study serve as a guideline for policy makers and managers in the formulation of policies and strategies for sustainable innovation. Knowing the effectiveness of the innovation can help the government to make decisions about the continuation of this policy. Moreover, study contributes to firm management in formulation of policies and strategies for sustainability in innovation context. Innovation assists organizations supplying the product or service in the automotive sector to operate innovatively, competitively and profitably.
This article discusses the development and validation of a Rational Emotive Education (REE) module for the stress intervention of Malaysian boarding school students. The module comprises four submodules, namely, Acceptance, Feelings, Beliefs, and Disputing Beliefs that have been developed by using the Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) approach. The validation stage which was evaluated by a panel of experts showed that the module's content validity value is .92. Meanwhile, the reliability testing performed using a set of questionnaires indicated the reliability coefficient of .93 This article demonstrates how a rigorous procedure can be applied to develop and validate an effective stress intervention module before it can be administered in an actual study. The results also demonstrate how the REE module which is based on the REBT approach can be applied by school counselors for the purpose of stress intervention in an educational setting.
The character of organizational innovation is considered significant for developing and improving the related products, procedures and marketplaces, for adding value as well as effectiveness over administrations. The innovation procedure is necessary regarding the activity of an association as the capability for innovation is important for attaining and sustaining competitive advantage. The absence of empirical investigations about the consequence of knowledge management on organizational innovation by organizational learning particularly over the developing countries exists in the related literature. The key objective of the current investigation is to evaluate the consequence of knowledge management on innovation directly and over organizational learning in Iranian automotive industry namely Iran Khodro Company. A total of 272 managers were chosen from systems and methods as the participants of the current study. The data were analysed using the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Results of the study revealed that there is an influence of knowledge management on organizational innovation in Iranian automotive industry. Results of the investigation showed that organizational learning has an important character as a mediator on the association between knowledge management and organizational innovation.
Purpose
– The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, to address a key but neglected area of research in operation and strategy that is the association between strategic orientation of the firm and its innovation emphasis on the current and future operation initiatives. Second, to explore and examine respective performance implications of these two kinds of operation strategies.
Design/methodology/approach
– Data from a carefully designed and conducted survey of Malaysia manufacturing SMEs were analysed using a structural equation modelling approach.
Findings
– Findings suggest that strategic innovation is strongly associated with both types of innovative operation strategies and they bring about different operational and market performance outcomes for the firm. This sheds light on a new framework for understanding the strategic architecture of innovation in operation strategies.
Research limitations/implications
– This study was limited to the small manufacturing firms in Malaysia. As a result, to assess its generalizability it can be replicated in other sectors and also other countries.
Practical implications
– Several managerial implications emanate from this research. Most notably is the notion that strategic orientation is a key antecedent of innovation in operation strategies and in particular, it affects both current and future related innovative initiatives. This indicates that executives of manufacturing firms must align their innovative moves with their strategic mind-set to achieve their desired outcomes both operationally and financially.
Originality/value
– To the best of knowledge of the author and based on a comprehensive review of past research, this study is original in two ways: first it is the first research that links strategic orientation with dual innovative operation strategies and second it is the first attempt to investigate respective operational and financial outcomes of these associations separately. This framework adds new insights and original value to several bodies of knowledge.
