Perhaps the greatest challenge facing global fisheries is that recovery often requires substantial short-term reductions in fishing effort, catches and profits. These costs can be onerous and are borne in the present; thus, many countries are unwilling to undertake such socially and politically unpopular actions. We argue that many nations can recover their fisheries while avoiding these short-term costs by sharply addressing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. This can spur fishery recovery, often at little or no cost to local economies or food provision. Indonesia recently implemented aggressive policies to curtail the high levels of IUU fishing it experiences from foreign-flagged vessels. We show that Indonesia's policies have reduced total fishing effort by at least 25%, illustrating with empirical evidence the possibility of achieving fishery reform without short-term losses to the local fishery economy. Compared with using typical management reforms that would require a 15% reduction in catch and 16% reduction in profit, the approach of curtailing IUU has the potential to generate a 14% increase in catch and a 12% increase in profit. Applying this model globally, we find that addressing IUU fishing could facilitate similar rapid, long-lasting fisheries gains in many regions of the world.
The performance of fisheries processing industry could be known through the production of processed fish and income which obtained by the entrepreneurs. Fisheries processing in Sukabumi Regency as an industry certainly has various factors that influence its performance. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of MSMEs and MSME actors characteristics on the performance of MSMEs in Sukabumi Regency. The research was conducted in Sukabumi Regency with the consideration that Sukabumi has superior MSME fishery processing industry products. The data used in the research were obtained from the results of interviews using the questionnaire. The number of samples used was 99 units of MSMEs which were selected by proportional cluster random sampling technique. The research data obtained were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the help of SmartPLS 3.2.7 software. The results showed that the characteristics of MSMEs had a positive and significant effect on the performance of MSMEs, and the characteristics of MSME actors consisting of demographic, psychological and cultural characteristics had a positive and significant effect on the performance of MSMEs. Based on these results, a psychological and cultural approach is needed for each program that will be carried out related to improving the performance of MSMEs in the fisheries processing industry in Sukabumi Regency.

One of the main issues facing the Government in Malacca Strait is the security and safety issue, which threatens the users of sea transportation service and potentially interferes with the business operation. In fact, most of the international distribution lines pass through the Malacca Strait, making it the busiest strait in the world. On the other hand, the high cost of maintaining security and safety in the area burdens the government. Hence, this research aims to develop a strategy in handling the sea transportation system to achieve the equilibrium between economic efficiency and the government's effectiveness in maintaining the security and safety of the shipping traffic in Malacca Strait. This study is a problem solving-based research using Soft System Methodology. As a result, the integrated piloting strategy has been developed as a recommendation to be implemented. With this strategy, the ships that pass through the Malacca Strait are advised to adopt integrated piloting. The pilots and the security guards would be on board and safely and securely help the ship pass through the Malacca Strait. By that, safety and security would be guaranteed, and the business objectives would be achieved.
Merger and Acquisition (M&A) is a way for companies to grow faster than organic business growth and can be a channel for companies to strengthen their global market position and increase competiteveness. M&A activities in the world have a large volume and value of several major commodities such as coal, industrial metal, silver, lead, zinc, copper, steel, aluminum etc. In 2018 (January to December) the total value of M&A transactions for the coal and metal sector reached USD 60 bio with the largest portion in coal commodities and transaction volume of 320 transactions.M&A is one of the strategic options in corporate restructuring activities that can provide more access to companies in increasing profits, market control or market share and increasing competitiveness (competitive advantage) to face the world market which is currently unstoppable. In this study, the problem to be answered is what are the theories behind the occurrence of M&A and also previous research that has been done related to M&A. To answer this problem, the literature review method will be used. The results obtained are expected to be used in future research in all M&A events. With this literature review, the motive behind the occurrence of M&A can also be well known.
