These findings indicate that concurrent topical calcipotriol potentates the efficacy of NB-UVB in the treatment of vitiligo. This combination not only provides earlier pigmentation with lower total UVB dosage and less adverse UVB effects, but also reduces the duration and cost of treatment as well.
Patients with severe psoriasis had clinically significant improvement after the initiation of combination therapy. Healing rate was decreased upon cessation of one of the medications. Short-term side-effects were minor, transient and manageable. Long-term follow-up of patients treated with this combination is needed.
We report a retrospective analysis the efficacy of high‐dose intravenous immunoglobulins on 9 patients with Livedoid vasculopathy for whom resistant to immunosuppressants plus anticoagulants or could not be prescribed. Intravenous immunoglobulins were used 2 g/kg per month in these patients. The treatment induced stabilization of the disease and all patients demonstrated improvement with IVIg. Complete and partial clinical response was achieved in 6 and 3 patients respectively.
1 Although COVID-19 mainly presents with flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, and asthenia, reports on involvement of different organ systems are growing. 1 Skin is one of the most frequently affected organs, and cutaneous and mucosal manifestations in the form of vesicular, maculopapular, or purpuric lesions have been reported. 2-7 Nails were thought to be reservoir for the virus with a potential to play a role in transmission by some patients, although this remains unclear. 8 However, no nail changes have been described related to COVID-19 infection. Here, we report a patient who developed onychomadesis three months after a mild COVID-19 infection. A 47-year-old female presented to the dermatology clinic with the complaint of nail dystrophy. She had a history of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection for which she was hospitalized 3 months prior to her presentation. She was mildly symptomatic with sore throat. Nasopharyngeal swab was positive for SARS-CoV-2 and her chest computed tomography showed characteristic ground-glass opacities in both lungs compatible with COVID-19 pneumonia. Laboratory tests, complete blood count, ferritin, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, D-dimer, and creatinine were within normal limits.
The results of this study confirm that treatment of axillary hair using the 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser can cause hyperhidrosis, and this effect is not transient. We did not evaluate the eccrine glands histologically, which is a limitation of the study.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
