Background: Roselle flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa) has been used as a food and herbal drinks, in hot and cold beverages, as a herbal medicine. Objective: To examine the effect of consuming roselle dried flower petals on changes in maternal hypertensive blood pressure during postpartum period. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with non-equivalent control group design conducted in 2016. There were 30 samples recruited using consecutive sampling with 15 samples in the intervention group and control group. Data were analyzed using paired t-test to know the difference of blood pressure value before and after intervention in the intervention and control group, and Independent t-test to determine the difference of blood pressure decrease between intervention and control group. Mann-whitney and Wilcoxon test were also performed for data analysis. Results: Findings showed that there were statistically significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure values before and after intervention in the intervention and control group with p-value 0.000 <0.05 with systolic blood pressure decrease was 5 mmHg and diastolic was 5.33 mmHg. Additionally, there was a significant effect in the duration of healing in the intervention group with p-value 0.000 <0.05, with the average duration of healing was 2 days. Conclusion: There was significant effects of dried petals of rosella flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa) brewed with 200 ml of hot water with temperature 90oC in lowering blood pressure, and there was significant differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure and duration of healing between the intervention and control group of mothers who consumed antihypertensive drugs. The results of this study can be applied by midwives in postpartum care with the cases of hypertension. It is expected that this intervention can help the healing process more quickly through a combination of antihypertensive medicines and sedated petals of rosella flowers.
Abstract Nursing mothers belong to one of the vulnerable groups of nutrition, because breast milk which is the main food for babies is obtained from the mother. Therefore, mothers who are breastfeeding must be controled to the intake of nutrients consumed. green beans as a food source of vegetable protein which has been very popular in everyday life. Based on the amount every 100 grams, protein is the second main constituent after calories, which contains 22.2% protein. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of consumption of mungbean juice on breast milk production in nursing mothers. This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design with one group pretest posttest, with a population of 20 breastfeeding mothers (0-2 months) and a total sample of 11 nursing mothers who delivered at Klinik Pratama Tutun Sehati. Data collection uses an observation sheet using indicators of Smooth Milk Production. The characteristic equality test showed that there was an effect of consuming mung bean extract on breast milk production in nursing mothers (p> α, α≤0.05). The results of the analysis test with the Wilcoxon test showed that there was a smooth effect of breast milk production (p = 0.046). It was recommended for nursing mothers whose milk was not smooth to pay attention to nutritional intake in order to improve the quality and amount of milk production, in packaging because the price is also affordable.
Spending colostrum in post-cesarean section mothers is difficult in the first week postpartum. Efforts to overcome colostrum disruption can use non-pharmacological methods, namely breast care and endorphin massage. This study aims to determine the expenditure of colostrum by giving breast care and endorphin massage to post-cesarean mothers. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent design posttest control group design. This research was carried out in the midwifery room of the second floor of Grand Medistra Lubuk Pakam Hospital during the June-July 2019 period. There were 48 participants selected using purposive sampling, with 18 assigned in breast care, endorphin massage and combination of breast care and endorphin massage. The time of spending colostrum expenditure is assessed every day while the amount of colostrum expenditure is assessed after intervening. Analysis of the data used is one-way Annova. The results showed that the combination of breast care and endorphin massage was the most effective action in the time of spending colostrum and the amount of colostrum with a value of p = 0,000. The combination of breast care and endorphin massage could be applied as an alternative therapy post-cesarean mothers.
Diarrhe is a disorder defection which be marked more than 3 times in a day with consistency of liquid, could accompany blood and mucus. This research have a aim to know the relation giving companio the food and the food sanitation to the baby by the age 0-6 in a month that happen in diarrhe, the location is Puskesmas Saribudolok, the area is center of Silimakuta and Simalungun district at 2018 year. This research is used to analytic observation with alignment (cross-sectional) the research of population is 179 respondes and the research sample as much as 89 respondes and used the formula lemeshow by taking the sample of consecutive sam. The data analysics by chi-square, the result of the research analysis to give companio the food is not good (84,3%). Giving the frequency mp-asi is not good (79,8%) and the method processing the food is not fulfill the requirment (87.6%), The way to keep the food is not fulfill yet the requirment (74,2%), The step to presentation the food is not fulfil yet the requirment (73.0%) ,The way using the eguiment/things the food is not fulfill yet the requirement (59.6%). Base on the result of bivariate analysis that kinds of companio the food, giving a frequency, the way to keep the food, the way to keep the equipments for food there is a relation with diarhe. And the way to process, presentation there is nothing the relation with have been happen of diarrhe. Base on the result of multivariate analysis, had known that the food sanitation thats a step to keep a food overall persentage storage (78.7%). Suggestions can be given to the community, for the next researcher and in the educational institution.
Emesis gravidarum is a common complaint made in young pregnancies. Preganancy causes hormonal changes in women due to an increase in estrogen, progesteron, and the realease of the placental chorionic gonodothropine hormone. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving a combination of acupressure and ginger drinks at Bandar Setia Village 2020. This type of research is quantitative research, using a quasy experiment design study with the design of Three-Groups Pretests-Posttest design control. The study population was pregnant women who experienced emesis gravidarum in Desa Bandar Setia. Sampling using Probability Sampling technique that is Simple Random sampling by determining the inclusion and exclusion criteria of 45 pregnant women who will be divided into three groups, 15 people for the experimental group who were given acupressure only, 15 people for the experimental group who were given ginger drinks only, and 15 experimental groups were given a combination of acupressure and ginger drink. The results of the study using Wilcoxon test obtained p-value = 0.000 <0.05. The conclusion is there is an effect on pregnant women who experience emesis gravidarum after being given a combination of acupressure and ginger drink.
