Los cuerpos de agua someros pampeanos en Argentina poseen una estrecha relación ante la variación del régimen de precipitaciones y temperaturas. Estos ecosistemas son fundamentales en destacados procesos ambientales, pero se desconoce su presencia y servicios ambientales. En las últimas décadas se acentuaron las amenazas de los efectos de la variabilidad climática y las actividades agrícolas que intervienen y modifican la hidrografía regional. El objetivo del presente trabajo es monitorear la evolución de cuerpos de agua y su relación con la variabilidad climática durante un período de tiempo de 35 años a partir de imágenes de satélite y datos meteorológicos. Se pretende estudiar su dinámica en función de los cambios en las temperaturas y precipitaciones. Se trabajó con la colección histórica Landsat durante el período 1986-2021 en relación con datos climáticos por medio de un análisis de regresión ANCOVA y un índice climático de evapotranspiración-precipitación. Los resultados obtenidos han permitido identificar la distribución en la cuenca de cuerpos de agua semipermanentes destacando que las temperaturas poseen un efecto de magnitud más fuerte que las precipitaciones que determinaría su presencia o desecación. La metodología propuesta enmarca la necesidad de generar este tipo de información acerca de la respuesta del sistema hidrográfico ante potenciales amenazas e identificación de vulnerabilidades.
Durante el año 2020, la República Argentina, ha implementado el Aislamiento Social Preventivo y Obligatorio (ASPO) en el contexto de la pandemia mundial por el virus COVID-19. Este hecho histórico ha provocado la disminución de las actividades económicas y la circulación de la población. Estudios actuales revelan una disminución de gases nocivos para la salud en la atmósfera, como resultado de medidas sanitarias aplicadas para contener el virus. El sudoeste de Buenos Aires (República Argentina) no está exento de estos efectos. La presente investigación pretende analizar las variaciones de niveles de dióxido de nitrógeno (NO2) en relación a escenarios prepandémicos y durante pandemia. Los resultados indicaron un paulatino descenso de NO₂ en relación a la disminución de la circulación y actividades antropogénicas en toda la región, con mayor impacto en ciudades de mayor tamaño.
En los últimos años se desarrolla un creciente interés en detectar, delimitar e inventariar humedales bajo un enfoque ecohidrogeomórfico para ampliar el conocimiento de estos ecosistemas y posibilitar la elaboración de lineamientos de gestión para su aprovechamiento. El objetivo de esta investigación es detectar y delimitar aquellos sectores que reflejan condiciones ecohidrogeomórficas favorables para definirlos como humedales en un sector de la cuenca Alsina ubicada en el sudoeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Se aplicó una metodología complementaria entre imágenes ópticas y radar que consiste en la utilización de un modelo digital de elevación Alos Palsar e imágenes Sentinel 2 A y Sentinel 1. Se abordó un pulso de inundación en la laguna ocurrido en el año 2017. Los eventos húmedos reflejan el funcionamiento de la laguna y los sistemas de humedales. Se analizaron cambios biofísicos que ocurrieron en los sectores perilagunares en referencia al ingreso de lluvias. Los resultados verificaron la presencia de diferentes tipologías de humedales entre la laguna y su área perilagunar que durante una inundación funcionan como un ecosistema híbrido.
