The kinetics of water vapour sorption by several anhydrous hydrophobic and hydrophilic ionic liquids (ILs) were gravimetrically determined at 25 degrees C and two levels of humidity, namely 43 and 81%. A simple equation was used to fit the data. The kinetic parameters obtained from the different ILs were compared and the differences were related to the IL structures. Results showed that even hydrophobic ILs absorb water at an unexpected speed

pH measuring and monitoring is fundamental to understand or control many chemical processes in biological, industrial or environmental fields. Potentiometric measurements by a glass electrode is the most common method to measure pH, although single-use paper strips are also widely used. Other methods include the use of hydrogen, quinhydron, and antimony electrodes, the imaging using pH-sensitive indicators such as dyes or proteins, and the use of ion-selective field effect transistor (ISFET). Due to the chemical reactivity of both sides of its 2D structure, nanometer thickness, high electron mobility, high reactivity to oxygen groups such as OH-, and ultrafast optical response, graphene has the potential to be used for the fabrication of nanoscale, wide-range, high-sensitivity and flexible pH sensors. This review describes how graphene, graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide can be used to fabricate pH-sensitive devices (e.g. solution-gated FETs, solid-gate FETs, electrochemical sensors, and pH-sensitive quantum dots). The various configurations are reported along with the advantages and current limitations

The present work reports the application of RF-magnetron sputtering technique to realize CsPbBr 3 70 nm thick films on glass substrate by means of a one-step procedure. The obtained films show highly uniform surface morphology and homogeneous thickness as evidenced by AFM and SEM investigations. XRD measurements demonstrate the presence of two phases: a dominant orthorhombic CsPbBr 3 and a subordinate CsPb 2 Br 5 . Finally, XPS data reveals surface bromine depletion respect to the stoichiometrical CsPbBr 3 composition, nevertheless photoluminescence spectroscopy results confirm the formation of a highly luminescent film. These preliminary results demonstrate that our approach could be of great relevance for easy fabrication of large area perovskite thin films. Future developments, based on this approach, may include the realization of multijunction solar cells and multicolor light emitting devices.

The oxidation reaction of 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural to the bioplastic monomer 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid over heterogenous resin‐supported Pt catalysts was investigated in detail, under continuous flow, base‐free conditions, and in neat water. The product was continuously obtained in 99 % yield by running the reaction at 120 °C, 303 s residence time, 1.2 mL min−1 O2 flow rate, and 7.7 bar O2 pressure. The product was isolated with a high space‐time‐yield of 46.0 g L−1 h−1 without purifications or acid/base treatments.
