BackgroundThe purpose of this study was to analyze the importance of traditional medicinal plants use to Wajãpi women in the State of Amapá, Brazil, as well as their practices in the local common illnesses of treatment considering the prevailing practice by non-Indians.MethodsThis study was conducted in the Community of the Wajãpi Indigenous People, a Brazilian territory located in the central western State of Amapá. Wajãpi women were selected for the interview since they have the responsibility to harvest, collect and prepare the preparations. The studied women were residents of four villages. The number of women within these four villages is 24.Results and conclusionsThe findings fell into the following three categories: 1) The daily use of medicinal plants by women and main methods of application. In this category, the botanical families found included Leguminosae-Caesalpinoideae, Anacardiaceae, Meliaceae, and Rubiaceae. The main forms of use found were teas, baths, maceration, in natura, and juices; 2) Through analysis of illness and treatment records, a lack of knowledge integration in the health system was shown to be due to a variety of gaps and the need of health professionals to be more aware about the local culture which they intend to work with, what could decrease the prevailing barriers between the social groups involved; 3) Traditional knowledge and possible sustainability can be fostered by stimulating the transmission of traditional knowledge from generation to generation, therefore reducing the dependence on industrialized medicines and also by maintaining an appreciation of those practices among youngsters, who tend to question them.
Objetivo: analisar a percepção dos adolescentes sobre a vacina HPV. Metodologia: trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva com abordagem qualitativa, realizada no período de dezembro de 2017 a julho de 2018, em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde do município de Macapá, Estado do Amapá. Participaram do estudo adolescentes de ambos os sexos, na faixa etária de 12 a 14 anos. Para coleta de dados, foi utilizada a entrevista semiestruturada e os dados foram analisados por meio da análise de conteúdo categorial temática. Resultados: emergiram três categorias de análise: categoria 1 – Vacina HPV: falta de informação e destaque da dor; categoria 2 – O saber dos adolescentes sobre câncer de colo uterino e categoria 3 – Adequação do conhecimento acerca dos benefícios da vacina e a influência da escola e a enfermagem. Conclusões: os adolescentes recebem muitas informações distorcidas, equivocadas e incompletas e isso pode ser um dos fatores que comprometem a adesão à vacina.Descritores: Vacinas; Adolescente; Papillomaviridae; Enfermagem.HPV VACCINE: PERCEPTION OF ADOLESCENTS SERVED IN A BASIC HEALTH UNIT OF AMAPÁObjective: to analyze the adolescents perception about the HPV vaccine. Methodology: this is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, from december 2017 to july 2018, carried out in a Basic Health Unit of the municipality of Macapá, state of Amapá. Adolescents of both sexes, in the age group of 12 to 14 years old, participated in the study. For data collection, the semi-structured interview was used, and the data were analyzed through the analysis of thematic categorical content. Results: three categories of analysis emerged: category 1 - HPV vaccine: lack of information and prominence of pain; category 2 - The knowledge of adolescents about cervical cancer; and category 3 - Adequacy of knowledge about vaccine benefits and the influence of school and nursing. Metodología: se trata de una investigación descriptiva con abordaje cualitativo, de diciembre de 2017 a julio de 2018, realizada en una Unidad Básica de Salud del municipio de Macapá, estado de Amapá. Participaron del estudio, adolescentes de ambos sexos, en el grupo de edad de 12 a 14 años. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la entrevista semiestructurada, y los datos fueron analizados por medio del análisis de contenido categorial temático. Resultados: surgieron tres categorías de análisis: categoría 1 - Vacuna HPV: falta de información y destaque del dolor; categoría 2 - El saber de los adolescentes sobre cáncer de cuello uterino; y categoría 3 - Adecuación del conocimiento sobre los beneficios de la vacuna y la influencia de la escuela y la enfermería. Conclusiones: los adolescentes reciben muchas informaciones distorsionadas, equivocadas, e incompletas y esto puede ser uno de los factores que comprometen la adhesión a la vacuna.Descritores: Vacunas; Adolescente; Papillomaviridae; Enfermería.
Objetivo: analisar a situação do tratamento inadequado da Sífilis Congênita. Método: trata-se de um estudo misto, descritivo, com dados coletados no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação, no período de 2014 a 2017. Realizaram-se, adicionalmente, entrevistas semiestruturadas com os profissionais de saúde da Atenção Básica, sendo os dados quantitativos estudados pela estatística descritiva e os qualitativos, por meio da Análise de Conteúdo. Resultados: identificaram-se 61 recém-nascidos que receberam tratamento inadequado para SC. Entrevistaram-se enfermeiros da AB do município de Macapá atuantes nas áreas de abrangência das residências das crianças. Aponta-se que as análises das entrevistas permitiram a criação de três categorias: O saber dos enfermeiros sobre a doença; A experiência do enfermeiro para a detecção de casos de SC na sua área de atuação e, As estratégias do enfermeiro para a busca de crianças com história de sífilis. Conclusão: evidenciou-se a fragilidade no tratamento da SC em Macapá com um alto índice de tratamento inadequado. Avalia-se que os perfis sociodemográficos e clínico das mães e crianças potencializam as vulnerabilidades individual, programática e social.
Objetivo: Identificar erros de refração e orientar exercícios visuais subsidiados pelo método self-healing de Meir Schneider para promoção da saúde ocular. Métodos: Estudo de cunho quantitativo e Pequisa-ação com 67 participantes do Projeto Cuide da sua Visão da Universidade Federal do Amapá. Para a operacionalização do estudo os pesquisadores explanavam sobre um determinado erro refrativo e orientavam práticas de exercícios visuais subsidiadas pelo método self-healing. Resultados: Identificou-se prevalência de astigmatismo (41,79%), seguido de miopia (38,8%), presbiopia (23,88%) e hipermetropia (11,94%). Quanto aos distúrbios oftalmológicos, o mais prevalente foi a catarata (11,94%), estrabismo (4,47%), glaucoma (2,98%) e visão monocular (2,98%). Orientou-se exercícios visuais focados no relaxamento profundo, ajuste às frequências luminosas, prática do shifting, olhar longe, expansão da visão periférica e uso equilibrado dos olhos. Conclusão: O método demonstrou sua aplicabilidade para a promoção da saúde ocular à medida que ao implementar os exercícios visuais em seu cotidiano, obteve-se relatos de visão mais nítida, olhos mais lubrificados, diminuição da sensibilidade a luz solar, melhora da fadiga visual e em uma participante com estrabismo, melhora significante do alinhamento ocular. Dada a pouca literatura existente sobre os efeitos mensuráveis dos exercícios visuais e seus benefícios indica-se mais estudos e divulgação deste método.
