Se realizó un estudio etnobotánico y se calculó el índice de confianza de las especies medicinales empleadas por los usuarios de la Unidad de Salud Familiar (USF) del Departamento de Caaguazú, Paraguay, buscando incorporar esta medicina al sistema nacional de salud. El estudio fue observacional, descriptivo. El método utilizado fue la entrevista, se empleó el cuestionario semiestructurado a usuarios de las USF, quienes proveyeron las muestras de plantas que reportaban como medicinales. Estas entrevistas se realizaron durante seis meses, entre los años 2015 y 2016. Para el análisis de confianza se empleó el método Uso Significativo TRAMIL (UST). Se identificaron 54 familias botánicas, que corresponden a 93 géneros y 116 especies, siendo Asteraceae la mejor representada con 17 Géneros y 21 especies. El órgano vegetal más frecuentemente empleado fue la hoja, seguido de la parte aérea y la planta entera, existiendo algunas especies de las cuales se emplean más de un órgano vegetal. El índice UST demuestra que las especies con mayor índice de consenso son las introducidas como Artemisia absinthium ajenjo, Mentha x piperita menta, Moringa oleifera moringa. La especie nativa con mayor índice de consenso fue Lippia alba salvia-rã. Las afecciones tratadas con estas especies fueron preferentemente los dolores estomacales y las enfermedades no trasmisibles como colesterol alto, ácido úrico, y estados de ansiedad. Se espera que estos datos sirvan para continuar los estudios hasta la validación farmacológica de las especies que permita el uso de plantas medicinales en atención primaria de salud.
Se presenta una síntesis del estado de conocimiento que se tiene en Paraguay sobre la vida y obra de Aimé Bonpland, quien vivió en el país cerca de 10 años. Como objetivos se resaltan la importancia de su trabajo como botánico taxónomo, su interés en el uso de las plantas en general, además de dedicarle un sencillo homenaje. Para ello se recurrió a la bibliografía especializada, se consultaron bases de datos en línea, los fascículos de la Flora del Paraguay y se revisaron los herbarios nacionales. Como resultado se da a conocer una lista no exhaustiva de las especies que determinó taxonómicamente y que están presentes en la flora paraguaya y como homenaje a su legado, se complementa con una lista de los géneros y epítetos de las especies de plantas vasculares registradas para la flora paraguaya que les fueran dedicados. El trabajo concluye con la incógnita de la cantidad y el destino de las especies que fueron colectadas en el Paraguay
La quimioterapia has sido un gran adelanto en Farmacologia, pero las secuelas de las racciones adversas han despertado una tendencia a volver a lo natural, especialmente hacia el reino vegetal, esto nos estimuló a la orientación de nuestra investigación para iniciar esta labor. En la primera y segunda parte se identificaron un total de 100 especues, la identificación ha comprobado que los ejemplares pertenecen a distintas familias y sus usos para combatir diveresas afecciones. Se indentificaron en esta tercera parte outras 50 especies. Se recopilaron datos sobre el uso de plantas que curar afecciones, luego se procedieron a la herborización e identificación de las especies, cuyos ejemplares se conservan en el herbario de la Facultad de Ciencias Químicas de la Universidad nacional de Asunción. La identificaíon botánica y la recopilación de sus usos populares, servirán de base para posteriores investigaciones fitoquímicas y farmacológicas que es nuestro propósito.
