Market orientation-performance relationship is moderated by competitive intensity, market turbulence and technological turbulence. The primary data for the study were collected using census method from 150 owners, sales managers and marketing managers of small-scale industries (SSIs) registered in Battal Ballian Industrial Estate in Udhampur, J&K. Output from moderated regression analysis revealed insignificant impact of market turbulence but significant impact of technological turbulence and competitive intensity on market orientation-business performance relationship. Subgroup analysis showed that higher the level of technological turbulence, weaker is the market orientationbusiness performance relationship, and higher the level of competitive intensity, higher is the market orientation-business performance relationship. The article suggests that SSIs should be induced to create a competitive environment by extending markets of their products, adding new products to their lines and catering to the needs of new sets of customers. They must keep themselves updated with new technologies through either collaboration with large-scale units or linkages with R&D labs within or outside India. Managers are suggested to use information technology effectively to enable new value creation processes, inter-functional coordination and linkages with external stakeholders. Further, the government should take steps to meet expansion needs of SSIs by providing concessional infrastructure conducive for competitiveness and business sustainability.
Consumers develop their perception about the quality of services provided by restaurants based on the facilities the restaurant has and the behavior of their employees with consumers. The study was aimed at evaluating the causal effect of physical facilities and the behavior of employees of a restaurant. The data for the study was collected from the consumers immediately after they had enjoyed the services of restaurants located at Gwalior through survey using separate structured questionnaire on each variable. The physical environment of a restaurant has positive signicant effect on both the employee behavior and consumer perception. Employee behavior signicantly effects consumer perception. Therefore, the ambience (majorly contributed by physical environment) of the restaurant contributes signicantly to the employee behavior and perception, consumers form about the restaurant.
TOC as an ongoing business improvement process based on five sequential step provides a scientific knowledge base for aligning an organization's operations with its business strategy. Its application in food processing businesses lies in high health and safety awareness among consumers, systematic rationalization, vertical integration for reducing production & demand uncertainties and recent impetus to rural industrialisation. The paper aims at comparing firm practices & customers' perceptions regarding supply-chain linkage variables. The responses regarding aforesaid variables were obtained through sets of questionnaires administered on 85 SSI manufacturers located within Industrial Estates and 200 wholesalers & retailers from Kathua block of district Kathua using systematic random procedure. It further identified suitable factors resulted after purification through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) also indicating moderate to high degree of linear association among supply chain factors. Finally, the paper designs trade promotion strategies that induce retailers to use price discounts, displays or advertising to spur sales & shift inventory from the manufacturer to the retailer and the consumers. Responses on 36 key drivers of supply chain performance statements recorded on "Firm orientation" and "Customer orientation", collected from channel intermediaries after purifying through factor analysis and applying "t" test enticed "quantity discounts" as a major constraint The paper suggests the ordering lot sizes of 1000 or more units in manufacture-distribution retail supply chain for securing transactional and overall channel efficiency. It directs future researches at exploring and solving multiple constraints in dissimilar businesses through the use of a single strategic action.RÉSUMÉ.
Organizations are social systems where human resources are the most important factors for effectiveness and efficiency. Organizations need effective managers and employees to achieve their objectives. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and plays a crucial role in many professions, such as banking, education, healthcare, insurance service jobs. Infact, leadership styles are one of the important factors that have the prospective to improve the employee satisfaction and performance. The purpose of this research paper is to examine the relationship between leadership styles and job satisfaction among of 842 subordinates and 421 their respective supervisors. Structural Equation Modeling is used to test the hypothesised relationship. The results revealed that transformational style and democratic style have a positive impact on job satisfaction but transactional style and laissez faire style have a negative impact on job satisfaction. To enhance skills of the employees, the study suggested that firms who want to adopt the job satisfaction must resource their initiatives and increase the capabilities that should be given serious attention by organization aiming to be world class.
Buyers typically experiences cognitive dissonance synonym to 'buyer's regret' or 'self-doubt', reduction of which is vital for long-term sustainability of retailers. The paper through the usage of canonical discriminant function, K-means clustering procedure and multidimensional scaling technique, measures the nature and extent of customer dissonance across demographic groups, clusters and 14 brand stimuli for operationalisation of existing pattern of preferences and accordingly redesigning the existing bundle of brand stimuli for strategic orientation of retailers selling SSI products. At retail level, marketing mix needs to be restructured with emphasis on updating product configuration comparative to national brands, passing discounts to frequent users, promoting brand usage local personalities and responding to consumer complaints promptly and efficiently.
