Purpose: to relate the cognitive aspects with sociodemographic data and the verbal fluency of the active elderly in a municipality in the south of Brazil. Methods: an epidemiological study conducted with 386 elderly people participating in community groups of the municipality. Data were collected using a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Verbal Fluency Test (VFT) and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results: most participants were women. The sample was characterized by people, predominantly with low schooling and income up to three minimum wages. It was possible to observe that the lower the years of schooling, the lower the monthly income, while the higher the age group, the worse the MMSE. Data of the present study showed significant relationships between the MMSE and the VFT. Conclusion: the cognitive aspects analyzed through the MMSE were influenced by sociodemographic variables and the VFT. These aspects may contribute to the knowledge and monitoring of the cognitive aspects of those who participate in community groups.

Abstract ABSTRACT Stroke can be defined as a quick development of clinical focal or global disturbances signs of brain function bringing consequence symptoms lasting more than 24 hours. Aphasia is a language impairment, which occurs when someone suffers a brain injury related to this area. The communication losses shown by the aphasic person will reflect on social and daily life activities. Family members that were involved also feel affected by changing their quality of life. This study aimed to investigate the main factors that affect the quality of life of aphasic person poststroke and their families. Data collection considered three parameters: the first was established by the socioeconomic data survey in the aphasic individuals familiar context, the second was the quality of life questionnaires application in the aphasic individuals (SSQOL) and relatives (WHOQOL), and third, the implementation of a roadmap for the Assessment of Expressive Language in aphasic person for semiologies definitions. As a result, the family socioeconomic status context 50% of aphasic individuals belong to the middle class. The domains least affected regarding the questionnaire administered to the aphasic individuals were: mobility (96.67%)and personal care (90%). Already the most affect domains were: language (49%) and behavior (55%). The domains least affected regarding the questionnaire given to relatives (WHOQOL-Bref) were: personal relationships (80%) and psychological (76.06%). Already the most affected domains were: physical (72.38%) and environment (69.58%). There was a statistically significant relationship between aphasic person and his family quality of life. Given the above, it was observed the impairment in quality of life both of the family as well as the aphasic individual after the stroke episode.

Portal of the elderly: development and evaluation of the website with information about the aging process and the main speech, language and hearing disorders that affect the elderly ABSTRACTPurpose: This research aimed to develop and evaluate a website with information on Speech-language therapy area with focus on the aging process. A website containing information with simple language, clear purpose and concise content was designed based on scientific evidence. Methods: The Flesch Index was used to check the material readability, with 50% of the content corresponding to "easy" and 50% of the content corresponding to "difficult". The website development followed the steps: analysis and planning, modeling, implementation and evaluation. Evaluators invited to participate were part of the following categories: elderly people, caregivers and speech-language therapists. The sample consisted of 10 elderly, 8 caregivers and 10 speech-language therapists. Most individuals (89.28%) were females, who often accessed the Internet (78.57%) and had different educational levels. Results: Statistical analyses were performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman correlation coefficient. The website's content was classified as "adequate" and the website's technical quality as "excellent". There was no statistically significant difference between the categories and subscales or the overall score. Conclusion: The website can be considered an accessible material, and a source of consultation and complementation of information about the theme, as well as an important tool for effecting the information transmission process. Método: foi elaborado um website contendo informações com linguagem simples, objetivo claro e conteúdo conciso, baseado em evidências científicas. Utilizou-se o índice de Flesch para verificar a legibilidade do material, encontrando-se, em 50% do conteúdo, o correspondente a "fácil" e, em 50% do conteúdo, o correspondente a "difícil". A elaboração do website seguiu as etapas: análise e planejamento, modelagem, implementação e avaliação. Foram convidados avaliadores que fizeram parte das categorias: idoso, cuidador de idoso e fonoaudiólogo. A amostra foi composta por 10 idosos, 8 cuidadores de idosos e 10 fonoaudiólogos. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio do teste Kruskal-Wallis e Coeficiente de Correlação de Spearman. Resultados: o conteúdo do website foi avaliado como "adequado" e a qualidade técnica do website apresentou-se como "excelente". Conclusão: conclui-se que o website pode ser considerado um material acessível, que compõe uma fonte de consulta e de complementação de informações sobre a temática, além de uma importante ferramenta para efetivar o processo de transmissão de informação.

RESUMO Objetivo Apresentar o desenvolvimento de um website com informações sobre a doença de Alzheimer (DA) e suas consequências para a comunicação e verificar a qualidade técnica e das informações fornecidas ao público idoso, cuidadores de idosos e fonoaudiólogos. Métodos Foi elaborado um website, contendo informações sobre a doença de Alzheimer, buscando-se uma linguagem simples e clara, com conteúdo sucinto, analisadas pelo índice de Flesch, que demonstrou a maior parte do conteúdo (75% dos submenus) com grau de legibilidade relacionado ao percentil correspondente a “fácil”. A elaboração do website seguiu as etapas de análise e planejamento, modelagem, implementação e avaliação. A avaliação foi realizada por 16 idosos, 12 cuidadores de idosos e 28 fonoaudiólogos. A análise estatística foi realizada por meio do teste Kruskal-Wallis e coeficiente de correlação de Spearman. Resultados A pesquisa contou com a participação de pessoas com diferentes níveis educacionais, que acessavam a Internet com frequência, observando-se prevalência do gênero feminino. A análise do conteúdo apontou diferença estatisticamente significativa no escore geral entre idosos versus cuidadores e fonoaudiólogos, além dos submenus relacionados ao cérebro e à DA, as fases e os impactos na comunicação. O conteúdo do website foi avaliado como “excelente” e qualidade técnica do website apresentou-se como “adequada”. Conclusão O website foi desenvolvido dentro das etapas propostas, sendo sua qualidade técnica e conteúdo uma fonte de consulta ou de complementação de informações fidedignas. Ajustes dos conteúdos de alguns submenus podem ser realizados para atender ao público idoso, porém, o respaldo técnico mostra-se presente frente à avaliação dos fonoaudiólogos.

O presente estudo teve o objetivo de descrever o uso da Comunicação Suplementar e/ou Alternativa em dois casos de afasia pós Acidente Vascular Encefálico. Foi realizada intervenção fonoaudiológica com dois participantes afásicos, utilizando os recursos da Comunicação Suplementar e/ou Alternativa. A intervenção fonoaudiológica foi dividida em quatro etapas, que abrangeu desde a visualização e confecção das fichas para o álbum de comunicação até a utilização efetiva desta abordagem. Em todas as etapas, foi utilizado o Picture Communication Symbols, por se tratar de um sistema que possui maior iconicidade translúcida. Por meio da reaplicação de testes, foi possível constatar melhora nas capacidades de compreensão oral, escrita, leitura e denominação dos dois participantes. Com este estudo pôde-se concluir que a intervenção fonoaudiológica com o uso da Comunicação Suplementar e/ou Alternativa nos dois casos de afasia pós Acidente Vascular Encefálico, trouxe benefícios para a comunicação funcional dos participantes, sendo que estes recursos tiveram função facilitadora, tornando a comunicação mais eficiente e trazendo benefícios no processo de reabilitação, promovendo evolução das habilidades de leitura e nomeação.

Palavras-chave: telemedicina, educação a distância, idoso, saúde do idoso, fonoaudiologia, envelhecimento ABSTRACT Continuing education for community health agents of Rondonia State: a Speech-Language and Hearing approach about the elderly health The community health agents (CHA) has a role in the community working and in the implementation of the current Brazilian health system because they are in direct contact with the population, which presents a growing number of elderly people and changes inherent to aging. The aim of this study was to evaluate a training program for CHA from Monte Negro, State of Rondonia, about aging and its aspects related in Speech-language and Hearing Pathology knowledge. The sample was constituted by 29 individuals, who were asked to complete a semi-structured questionnaire, containing knowledge related to Speech-language and Hearing Pathology and the aging process at a time before and after completion of the training course, and then filled a validated questionnaire about their socioeconomic status.For the knowledge analysis of speech-language and hearing questionnaire regarding aging processes participated five reviewers, who work in different areas of expertise in Speech-language and Hearing Pathology, to answer the questionnaire offered to CHA for later scoring and assessment. The results showed the socioeconomic analysis showed 89.65% of the sample was in the higher lower class, 79.31% lived in the rural area and 44.83% have completed high school. After the training program that only an area presented a worsening score (Orofacial Motricity) and the others showed an improvement, while statistically significant difference occurred only in two areas (Audiology; Speech and Language). Regarding to the CD-ROM development, its elaboration occurred in two phases, the writing and its designing preparation during the months after the end of the course. Thus, it's been concluded that the training program met its objectives for the CHA forwarding knowledge for who needs to work with the community by providing quality of life improvements. The preparation of the CD-ROM was important to record the content offered as well as to a subsequent query.

O Acidente Vascular Cerebral é menos frequente em crianças do que em adultos, porém possui um poder devastador para o futuro destes indivíduos, mesmo com indícios de melhor recuperação das alterações. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever os achados fonoaudiológicos de um caso de Acidente Vascular Cerebral infantil, evidenciando a evolução após 12 meses de terapia fonoaudiológica, iniciada precocemente, após lesão neurológica adquirida. Trata-se de um indivíduo de 11 anos, gênero masculino, com normalidade de desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor e independência para as atividades funcionais durante a primeira infância. Em março de 2015 sentiu um mal súbito, foi encaminhado para o hospital de urgência e diagnosticado com Acidente Vascular Cerebral, do tipo hemorrágico, em região fronto-parietotemporal esquerda. Foram realizados procedimentos cirúrgicos, e a internação durou 25 dias. No momento da alta hospitalar houve a orientação sobre a necessidade de atendimento fonoaudiológico. A primeira avaliação de linguagem evidenciou afasia adquirida do tipo emissiva, conforme as classificações propostas para crianças. Foram realizadas 91 sessões de terapia fonoaudiológica, com duração de 50 minutos, pelo período de 12 meses. Ao analisar as habilidades formais de linguagem que permaneceram alteradas, observa-se que as relacionadas à leitura e escrita são as de maior significância, interferindo no desempenho escolar e desenvolvimento comunicativo. Assim, além do atendimento fonoaudiológico até que seja possível uma comunicação funcional, é importante que haja o apoio escolar.
