Este artigo é resultado do minicurso de título semelhante ministrado por ocasião do II Seminário de Ensino de História das Escolas Públicas da Grande Florianópolis cujo tema geral foi “Os desafios do ensino de história em tempos de conservadorismo e neoconservadorismo”. O evento ocorreu em meados do mês de agosto de 2019, no Instituto Estadual de Educação, no Centro de Florianópolis, e teve como alvo principal os professores da rede pública da educação básica da capital catarinense e de cidades circunvizinhas. O intuito é fazermos uma apresentação da dinâmica de nossa experiência de contato com o grupo de docentes inscritas(os), destacando os objetivos de nossa proposta para o curso, nossa percepção da reação e respostas do grupo; a incorporação das demandas das professoras(es) presentes e os impasses que surgiram na interação entre o projeto de minicurso e o processo de sua realização. Esperamos, com isso, contribuir para levantar questões sobre os usos, impasses e abordagens, no cotidiano docente, de temas-trauma e categorias de análise mais evidentemente emergentes desde os anos 2000, quais sejam, ditadura civil-militar, gênero, racismo e interseccionalidade.
Ditadura Militar e Ensino de História: práticas, fontes, experiências e reflexões dizia respeito ao alto índice de analfabetismo da população 1 . Em 1960, segundo dados estatísticos, um contingente de 39,7% de brasileiros eram analfabetos, na década seguinte 1970, 33,7% dos habitantes (praticamente um terço) ainda não sabiam ler e escrever. Do mesmo modo que essas informações dão conta de um país atrasado do ponto de vista educacional, não podemos tomar esses números ao pé da letra e, desse modo, relativizar os índices de audiência da imprensa escrita no país.Chartier ( 2001) sinaliza que, historicamente, a prática da leitura se adequou às demandas culturais e sociais da época. Desse modo, o francês do século XVIII, mesmo analfabeto, poderia ter acesso a informações veiculadas em mídia escrita, pois a leitura era coletiva, o alfabetizado lia e interpretava, e os demais da população ouviam e se informavam.Com isso, não estamos afirmando que esse era o modus operandi da leitura em Feira de Santana no período de recorte deste artigo, mas sinalizando uma alternativa para além da leitura individualizada, que seria uma possibilidade de driblar a ausência da leitura e possibilitar o contato com os textos. Haviam outras formas de ler e, em nosso caso espe cífico, modos de ler imagens, que se constituem, em termos de construção de sentido e inteligibilidade, de maneira diferente do texto escrito. Marie Mondzain (2009) definiu o Ocidente como uma sociedade há muito tempo habilitada a ler imagens. Segundo ela, "Daqui [referindo-se à Idade Média] em diante cremos, aprendemos, informamos e transmitimos através da imagem. O medo dos simulacros deu lugar ao culto das imitações. Instala-se aquilo que podemos chamar de iconocracia." (MONDZAIN, 2009, p. 14).
