Desde finales de la década de 1960, se produjo una recuperación de la dimensión territorial en el estudio de la realidad socioeconómica, sentándose las bases de los principales modelos de innovación territorial. Esta, se basó en la combinación ecléctica de diferentes perspectivas, bajo la influencia directa de la Nueva Sociología Económica liderada por Mark Granovetter. Allí, el trabajo se propone analizar las formas en que, la territorialidad, puede estructurar los procesos de innovación, a partir de una reconsideración crítica del modelo básico, inspirado en aquella renovación. Sobre esta base, se propone un análisis interpretativo de información provista por la Encuesta Nacional de Dinámica del Empleo y la Innovación II (2014-2016), acerca de la estructuración territorial de los procesos de innovación de la industria manufacturera argentina. Se trabaja con el caso de las industrias metalúrgica, metalmecánica y automotriz, agrupadas, en tanto caso de referencia reconocido por la literatura.
