Caulerpa racemosa known as “sea grape” is green seaweed found in the coast of Balai Island Aceh Singkil, but the coastal community has not yet utilized this green seaweed. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of C. racemosa extract from Balai Island Aceh Singkil. In research method, the sample of C. racemosa was collected from Balai Island Aceh Singkil and crude extracts were prepared using ethanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. The yield and phytochemical assay were measured then followed by the in vitro antioxidant assays including CUPRAC and FRAP. The result showed the highest yield was found in the ethanol (1.36%), followed by n-hexane (0.45%) and ethyl acetate extract (0.405%). C. racemosa crude extract has contained phenolic, flavonoid and tannin compounds. Measurement of antioxidant activity using the CUPRAC and FRAP methods respectively showed that the ethanol extract had higher activity with a value of 46.45±4.03 μmol trolox/g and 358±1.41 μmol trolox/g, compared to crude extract of ethyl acetate with a value of 23.74±0.03 μmol trolox/g and 568±7.07 μmol trolox/g. While the value of n-hexane extract was 21.56±0.028 μmol trolox/g and 15 μmol trolox/g. Some of these bioactive compounds possess a new antioxidant agent with potential for nutraceutical industry.
The potential of the mangrove ecosystem for humans can be in the form of providing economic resources, maintaining the ecological environment and providing environmental services. So it is important to study the potential for the existence of the mangrove ecosystem, the study includes the potential for coastal tourism and the social potential of the community in supporting its development efforts. Mangrove forests have aesthetic value, both from natural factors and from the life in them. Mangrove forests provide a tourist attraction that is different from other natural attractions. People's understanding of the benefits of mangrove forests as wood producers must be substituted by exploring other economic benefits. This Travel cost Method (TCM) is used to assess the economic value of Kuala Langsa coastal tourism. Through the Travel cost method, an assessment of the costs incurred by individuals who carry out tourism activities on the Kuala Langsa coast will be carried out. While the assessment based on preferences (Contingent Valuation Method) is a method used to see or measure how much the value of an item is based on someone's estimation. Contingent Valuation Method can also be considered as an approach to find out how much value someone gives to obtain an item. The economic potential of coastal tourism reaches Rp. 23,645,203,245/year. Overall the total estimated potential for the existence of the mangrove ecosystem in Kuala Langsa is Rp. 43,547,539,297/Year. To manage this potential, a conservation strategy is needed, improving the performance of traditional institutions and the existence of management institutions as they are today must be continuously strengthened. The results of the research can be used as input and consideration for decision makers in setting policies for developing the potential of mangrove forests with environmental carrying capacity.
The study was carried out at the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (RTIU) Conservation Monitoring of Marine and Fishery Resources (CMOMFS) of West Sumatera Province. The observation was conducted from January 1st to January 30th 2020. Measurements of sand samples in semi-natural nets and water samples in rearing ponds were conducted ex-situ. The research consisted of several parameters such as humidiy, temperature, depth and diameters of semi-natural nets as well as salinity, pH and water temperature of the rearing pond. Based on the observations, it was found that turtle breeding technique consisted of several stages including, monitoring of the coast, ensuring the depth and diameters of nets, incubation of eggs, hatching eggs, taking the hatchlings from semi-natural nets, nursery hatchlings, feeding hatchlings, rearing hatchlings and turtles and realesing hatchlings. The results showed that the value of humadity, temperature, dept and diameter of semi-natural nets respectively ranged between 4% - 6%, 28 - 35 0C, 40-60 cm and 20 cm. Meanwhile, the value of salinity, temperature and pH of rearing pond water ranged between 13 - 14 ppm, 27 - 28 0C and 7-8. The turtle breeding tecniques were in accordance with the guidelines for turtle conservation and had been generally established. The result of turtle rearing pond water quality measurements were in accordance with the water quality standards according to KepMenLH No. 51 in 2004 concerning Seawater Quality Standards, especially for the categoy of Marine Biota. Keywords: Strategy, Conservation, Turtle, CMOMFS
Shellfish have another important role, namely the role of ecology. Therefore, a deeper knowledge of the bioecology of shellfish, especially the anatomy and environmental factors, as well as the pattern of continuous scientific studies, is required. This study aims to identify and collect information on morphometric diversity. This research will be conducted for 8 (eight) months March-October 2020 in the downstream area of Sambora Village, West Kalimantan Province. Ecological studies include observations of physical, chemical, and biological parameters as well as distribution patterns of shellfish at III observation stations. Morphometric measurements are measurements of length and weight, size class distribution, density and distribution pattern.Based on the results of research, obtained 177 individuals. The morphometric characters showed a negative allometric growth pattern of 2.10. Average density ranges from 0.37-3.02 ind/m2 with the highest average density at station I and the lowest at station III. The distribution pattern of A. woodiana at stations I and II showed the same pattern, namely random with a value of 1.00 id, while at station III the distribution pattern was uniform with a value of 0.93 id.The pH value with an average of 6, DO (Dissolved oxygen) with a range of 6.4 -7.2 mg/l,. Brightness value with a range of 22-30 cm. Depth value with an average of 40-90 cm. The average current speed value is 0.20 - 0.30 (m/s). The average percentage of sand is 85-89%, the percentage of dust is 10-11%. The abundance of plankton 80-170 individuals/l.
