9 magnetic surface anisotropy is observed (at RT) in the ribbons of the bulk ferromagnetic amorphous alloy Fe40Ni4,B,, subjected to a stress-anneal (several hours a t 100 to 300 "C, and a t 1.98 GPa), by means of surface spin-wave resonance excitation. The value of the magnetic surface energy ranges from 0.2 to 0.7 mJ/m2 and is moreover uniaxially anisotropic in the sample plane, with an easy direction normal to the main axis of the ribbon. A qualitative attempt to explain the results is given.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
