Magnetic surface anisotropy and ferromagnetic resonance in a stress annealed FeNIB amorphous alloy

Abstract: 9 magnetic surface anisotropy is observed (at RT) in the ribbons of the bulk ferromagnetic amorphous alloy Fe40Ni4,B,, subjected to a stress-anneal (several hours a t 100 to 300 "C, and a t 1.98 GPa), by means of surface spin-wave resonance excitation. The value of the magnetic surface energy ranges from 0.2 to 0.7 mJ/m2 and is moreover uniaxially anisotropic in the sample plane, with an easy direction normal to the main axis of the ribbon.
