У сучасному світі людина постійно знаходиться в умовах постійного стресу й психотравмуючих си-туацій. Існує багато джерел психологічної травма-тизації індивіда, до яких можна віднести наслідки дорожньо-транспортної пригоди (ДТП). За останні роки в Україні значно збільшилась кількість автомо-білів, їх чисельність перевищила 9 мільйонів, при-чому щороку в Україні фіксується 200 тисяч ДТП, серед них 30 тисяч -з тілесними ушкодженнями; кожні дві години на українських дорогах гине люди-на та від 2 до 5 осіб зазнають тяжкої або середнього ступеня тяжкості травми [16, 20]. Навіть невелич-ка аварія, безперечно, супроводжується травмою (психологічною, фізичною, психотравмою) та може мати негативні психологічні наслідки, які істотно впливають на водія, пасажира або очевидця ДТП [12]. Якої б інтенсивності вона не була, порушено відчуття безпеки, що може вплинути на розвиток хворобливого стану -стану стресу або посттравма-тичного синдрому. Американські вчені визначили, що від 10 до 40 % жертв тяжких ДТП можуть отрима-ти діагноз посттравматичного синдрому впродовж півроку після пережитого стресу. Подальша робота людини з психологічною травмою і її наслідками перетворюється в тривалий реабілітаційний процес, який в окремих випадках затягується майже на все життя. Посттравматичний стрес може призвести до інвалідизації індивіда [3].На сучасному етапі розвитку нашої держави ви-значається соціальне напруження в суспільстві щодо проведення реформ стосовно Євроатлантичної ін-теграції, що передбачає зміни в пострадянській сис-темі організації, управління та планування в галузі охорони здоров'я. Одним з аспектів реформування в галузі є потреба в удосконаленні судово-психіатрич-ної та психологічної експертизи постраждалих на етапах клінічного, хоспісного лікування та реабіліта-ції.
