Activation energy of thermal degradation of cotton and cotton coated samples is determined by applying Coats-Redfern method on TG data. Action of intumescent is found concurrent with the process of decomposition of cotton fabric on heating. Activation energy of cotton coated with intumescent (175.3 kJ mol À1 ) is found lower than that of uncoated cotton (236.5 kJ mol À1 ), which further decreased on inclusion of blends of biodiesel in intumescent formulations (112-126 kJ mol À1 ). Char yield for cotton coated with intumescent increased from zero to 12.9% at 500 C. LOI value for pure cotton (17%) increased for intumescentcoated (22.3%). V C 2013 AIP Publishing LLC. [http://dx.
The effect of the addition of 10-25 wt% coconut oil cake (COC) on the properties of poly (lactic acid) (PLA) was studied. PLA/COC (80/20) composite showed better mechanical properties and higher thermal stability than PLA. Glycerol used as a plasticizer further improved tensile and flexural mechanical properties, as well as the impact strength and the ability to suppress noise.
Energy recovery from waste biomasses has become the most important solution, in addition to find suitable alternative fuel rather than the usual mineral fuel. In this study used vegetable oil biodiesel has been used as an injected fuel and waste wood chips as an inducted fuel to generate producer gas in a modified double walled fixed bed downdraft gasifier, and to study the fuel's performance in an Internal Combustion Engine. The effect of compression ratio on the engine performance is critically examined with different load while the fuel injection pressure and fuel injection timing has been kept constant throughout the run. The result shows that the brake thermal efficiency gradually increases with increase in compression ratio with simultaneous decrease in brake specific energy consumption; also the remarkable emission reduction ensures the suitability of mixed fuel at higher possible compression ratio without any modifications in the engine. It is concluded that the ignition delay, noise pollution, and engine vibration limit the compression ratio to 18 as a maximum. V C 2014 AIP Publishing LLC.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
