Resumo:Alicerçado nos preceitos teórico-metodológicos da Dialetologia e da Sociolinguística, o presente artigo tem o intento de descrever estratégias utilizadas pelos inquiridores do Projeto Atlas Linguístico do Brasil (ALiB) na reformulação da questão 054 do Questionário Fonético-Fonológico (QFF) -com vistas à obtenção da resposta aftosa -, em entrevistas realizadas nas capitais das Regiões Centro-Oeste e Sudeste. Para tanto, rememoramos o percurso histórico da Geolinguística e do Projeto ALiB, refletimos a respeito dos passos da pesquisa geolinguística com enfoque na postura do inquiridor, comentamos sobre a relevância do conhecimento de mundo e do conhecimento partilhado entre informante e inquiridor para o êxito de trabalhos dessa natureza e, finalmente, analisamos as estratégias do inquiridor para a consecução da resposta correspondente à aludida questão, tecendo breves comentários acerca da formação socioeconômica das mencionadas regiões do País. O corpus deste estudo é constituído pelas entrevistas extraídas dos inquéritos do Projeto ALiB, as quais revelam que aftosa, por se tratar de uma variante ligada à vida do campo, foi registrada com maior facilidade pelos falantes da Região Centro-Oeste, ao passo que, no Sudeste, há maior incidência de reformulação da questão, provavelmente porque o vocábulo pertence a uma realidade mais distante desses informantes.
