Abstract. It has tested the antioxidant activity of n-hexane extract respective roots, bark, fruit and seed crops of nutmeg against DPPH. Each extracted by maceration method with n-hexane. The extraction of each plant nutmeg with n-hexane extract obtained yield of n-hexane respectively 8,35%; 81,5%; 11,89% and 55,63%. The result of the antioxidant activity of n-hexane extract of each plant nutmeg against DPPH with a concentration of 25 ppm, 50 ppm and 100 ppm is obtained IC 50 , respectively, are 0,216 ppm, 63,755 ppm, 43,998 ppm and 11,599 ppm and positive control vitamin C ( IC 50 = 3,657 ppm). Vitamin C is a standard compound is more often used than butyl for very high antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity increases from high to low at the roots, seeds, fruits and bark of plants nutmeg in a row. Based on data GC-MS chemical components of each successive extracts of roots, bark, fruit and seeds are 41, 41, 44, 43 components of secondary metabolites. The main components of each part of the plant based on data from GC-MS are a 5-Octadecanoic acid, linalool, eugenol, myristicin, methoxyeugenol. The compounds are thought to play an active role in inhibiting free radicals from DPPH. n-Hexane extract nutmeg plant potential as an antioxidant.
Regarding the use of hydrogen in fuel cell for mobile or stationary applications, metal hydrides can offer a high hydrogen volume capacity and a safe alternative compared with liquid storage or with compressed gas. Among the metal hydrides, magnesium is considered as one of potential hydrogen storage materials because of its high capacity (7.6 wt%), lightweight and low cost. However, high work temperature would slow down kinetics reaction and harden activation process limit practical application of Mg-based hydrides as well. Recently, the high energy ball milling was successfully introduced to prepare hydrogen storage materials. In this work, MgH 2 catalyzed with Ni nanoparticles was synthesized by planetary type ball milling under high pressure of hydrogen at 100 bar (10 MPa). As a result, small amount of Ni in nanometer scale acts as a suitable catalyst for kinetics improvement of MgH 2 which could absorb 5.3 wt% of hydrogen within 5 minutes at 300 º C. It is obvious that small amount Ni (2 mol%) has much better catalyst than catalyst in nanoparticle size; and at the same time, it is allowed to reduce the milling process for short time (2 hours).
All schools in general already have adequate technology and information facilities. Teachers and students can use computers as learning media usually the existing media are only in the form of powerpoints which tend to be teacher-centered, It is necessary to have interactive learning media in the learning process, one of which is Microsoft excel-based interactive media on chemical reaction equalization material, especially metathesis reactions. The name of the developed media is Chem React, which is a chemical reaction. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of Chem React media as a chemistry learning medium and to determine the responses of teachers and students to the development of Chem React media. This study uses the ADDIE research and development model. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling, namely 15 students who were able to use computers and ten chemistry teachers. The procedure for collecting data was needs analysis, design, development, validation, media revision, small-scale testing, and evaluation. Data analysis techniques calculated the feasibility of the media, student, and teacher responses. The results of the feasibility assessment by media and material experts obtained an average rating of 92.97%, in the very good category. The results of teacher responses of 91.50% and student responses of 90.33% fall into the very good category. So the Chem React media is very suitable to be used as a learning medium on chemical reaction balancing material.
Sample preparationA. squamosa leaf (ASL) was obtained from Syiah Kuala, Darussalam, Aceh-Indonesia at coordinate of latitude 5.576020 and longitude 95.380189. The sample was clean with flow of tap water to remove impurities, dried and grinded into powder form with yield of 850 g. The powder was macerated using methanol solution (70%, Merck) for 24 h at room temperature. The filtrate was concentrate using rotary evaporator and partitioned with n-hexane (99%, Merck), followed by ethyl acetate (99%, Merck) and was kept in cold refrigerator for further characterization.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
