Bu çalışma, ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarının bilgi iletişim teknolojilerine sahip olma ve bunları kullanma durumlarına göre değişip değişmediğinin belirlenmesi için gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada tarama modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın evrenini Kırşehir il merkezindeki 6540 adet 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin tamamına ulaşmanın güçlüğü ve örnekleme kuramı dikkate alınarak evren içerisinden %3 hata payı ile alınan 959 öğrenci ise araştırmanın örneklemini meydana getirmiştir. Veriler, 2011-2012 eğitim ve öğretim yılının bahar yarıyılında toplanmıştır. Öncelikle ölçeğin geçerlilik, güvenirlik işlemleri tamamlanmış; bu işlemin ardından ölçek, on iki ilköğretim okulunda 44 farklı şubeye uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Özbay ve Uyar (2009)’ın geliştirdikleri İlköğretim İkinci Kademe Öğrencilerinin Okuma Tutumlarını Belirleme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler işlenirken SPSS 15.0 ve Lisrel 8.80 istatistik programları kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada çağdaş bilgi iletişim araçlarının kullanım durumu ya da bu araçlara sahip olma durumu arttıkça ilköğretim ikinci kademe öğrencilerinin okumaya yönelik tutumlarının azaldığı; klasik denebilecek kitap, gazete, dergi gibi araçların okunma, takip edilme sıklıklarının artması ile de okumaya yönelik tutumların arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
