Purpose Drawing on knowledge-based theory, contingency theory of leadership, social learning theory and resource-based view, this study aims to investigate the relationships among knowledge-oriented leadership (KOL), knowledge management capacity (KMC), innovation performance (IP) and organizational performance (OP). Design/methodology/approach The relationships were examined using the serial mediation model of Hayes (2013). Data were collected from the firms (N = 502) operating in technology development zones in Turkey. The sample size corresponds to 10% of total number of the firms. Within the scope of a policy called National Technology Move by public authority, Turkey has been making strong investments to produce original and advanced technology products. A significant portion of these investments is directed toward technology development zones. Therefore, research on this topic may be of interest in Turkey. It should also be noted that Turkey is a developing country and is one of the world’s 20 largest economies. Findings The findings show that KMC and IP serially mediate the effect of KOL on OP. In the light of the findings, KOL establishes the eligible conditions for the improvement of KMC. Enhanced KMC transforms into innovation, and as a result, OP increases. As a result, this research shows that Turkish firms under the leadership of knowledge-oriented leaders have high KMC, innovation performance and firm performance. These findings can serve as a valuable benchmark for future studies in developing countries. Research limitations/implications The current research has several limitations. It was carried out on the firms operating in technology development zones in Turkey. Future researches can be conducted on the firms outside the technology development zones. Second, this research was carried out in Turkey. The study was conducted in a specific national context covering only Turkish firms. It is recommended that readers be cautious when generalizing the results to different contexts (e.g. other countries and industries). Future researches can be conducted on the firms located in technology development zones in different countries. This may allow the comparison of countries. Turkey is a developing country. For this reason, developing countries should be taken into consideration in the comparison between countries, not developed countries such as the USA and European countries. Third, this is a cross-sectional study. Therefore, it does not reveal the changes in research variables over time. Longitudinal data collection is recommended for future researches. Practical implications The research findings are turned into a slogan and the firms are recommended the following perspective: more innovation for strong performance; a strong KMC for innovation; and for all, a strong knowledge-oriented leadership. Originality/value KOL is a quite new research field. The current study makes a significant contribution to the literature by revealing the fact that KOL is effective in increasing OP. In addition, testing via the serial mediation model the relationships which put forward how KOL increases OP, this study sheds light on organizational outcomes of KOL. There is an important gap in the search for leadership characteristics that allow knowledge-intensive firms to improve their KMC, innovation and firm performance. Therefore, this research is an important step toward filling this gap.
Purpose The Internet revolution has radically changed the means of conducting business all over the world in the past few decades. The digital medium enables consumers worldwide to shop online through B2C e-commerce websites in a convenient manner. Online websites compete to provide a compelling and seamless brand experience to retain their customers. In order to achieve this, fostering a state of flow may help the brands increase customer experience, customer satisfaction and loyalty. In this study, the aforementioned phenomenon is tested against Turkish university students. Methodology The study was conducted against 538 valid respondents. The results of the survey were interpreted with the structural equation modeling method. Quantitative data were obtained using a five-point Likert scale. Initially, confirmatory factor analyses and reliability analysis were performed, respectively in order to determine the validity and reliability of the scale. Findings As a result of the analyses, it has been empirically proven that an online flow state, which is a momentary phenomenon, helps online e-commerce websites build customer satisfaction and customer loyalty indirectly through customer experience. These results are partly parallel with those in the extant literature. Originality This study is significant in the literature in that, as opposed to the extant literature, online flow state is found to influence customer satisfaction and customer loyalty rather indirectly via moderating effect of customer experience. Additionally, it is the first to incorporate customer satisfaction along with customer loyalty as a new construct affected by online flow state and customer experience. The results also have important managerial implications.
The most important assessment tool that demonstrated the comparative situation of countries is Logistics Performance Index (LPI) created by World Bank. This index which has been prepared as a questionnaire consists of six dimensions. These dimensions are Customs: The efficiency of clearance process, Infrastructure: Quality of trade and transport related infrastructure, International Transportation: Capability of arranging competitively priced shipments, Logistics Competence: Competence and quality of Logistics Services, Tracking and Tracing: ability to track and trace your consignments, Timeliness: Carrying out the transports at scheduled time. In this research, moderating effect of Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) on each dimensions of LPI was measured. The moderating effect was measured by means of hierarchical regression method. As a result of the analysis, the moderating effects on three of the six dimensions have been found as statistically significant. These dimensions are International Transportation: Capability of arranging competitively priced shipments, Tracking and Tracing: ability to track and trace your consignments and Timeliness: Carrying out the transports at scheduled time. Due to not being any research based on the dimensions of two indexes (LPI and GCI) before, this research can be considered as a breakthrough in literature. The most important contribution of this research is that it allows evaluating logistics performance over the top as to increase the size of a country's global competitiveness index. In other words, according to the result of this research, if a country targets to the top level in GCI index, it needs to make important improvements in the following dimensions of logistics services: International Transportation, Tracking and Tracing and Timeliness.
Inter-firm knowledge sharing (IKS) is identified as a significant predictor of positive performance in business relationships. On the premise that the effects of IKS have not been given the deserved scholarly attention in the SC supply chain context, this paper investigates the effects of IKS on sSupply cChain pPerformance (SCP) and fFirm pPerformance (FP). The hypothesized model is operationalised with survey data and analyzed using regression analysis. The findings add credence to the positive effects of IKS inter-firm knowledge sharing and identify IKS inter-firm knowledge sharing and supply chain performanceSCP as antecedents to higher FP firm performance in the SCsupply chain.

The fact that Web 2.0 has an influence on consumer behavior, and that it makes the consumers stronger; requires faster, more flexible and more sensitive communication processes in businesses. Especially during a time of crisis, a business’ communication with the external environment is quite critical. For this reason, the way how the crisis communication is managed through social media is vital for businesses. In this article, the perceptions of how to manage businesses during a time of crisis so that they make minimum loss, is shared.
Economic growth is a process of enhancement in total production level measured by absolute and relative increases or real production per capita. Economic growth is also related with development of production capacity. Recent researches consider Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as one of the indicators of growth. Logistics Performance Index (LPI) issued by World Bank is an indicator of logistics performance of a country consisting of six dimensions. Foreign Direct Investments involve establishing operations or acquiring tangible assets by a foreign firm for doing businesses in other country. In order to indicate the importance of logistics performance and capabilities, the paper investigates the mediator effect of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on the relation between Logistics Performance and Economic Growth. Research model is used to test above relationships through hierarchical regression method. As a result of analyses conducted, the mediator effect of FDI on the relation between LPI and GDP is found as statistically significant.
Technological innovations in recent years have resulted in paper based documentation will be completely abandoned in all business processes, however the paper-based processes still prevail in foreign trade transactions due to complicated business processes. Institution and companies in different countries involved in foreign trade transactions. Therefore integrative solutions are needed. This paper seeks to put forward a methodology to pave the way to the future international trade. Therefore we developed a taxonomical approach to this clutter in order to partially surmount the integration problem because a road map should be determined before the holistic solution. Taxonomical approach has been suggested for grouping the foreign trade documents in terms of their functions. All the parties participating in a foreign trade transaction should be able to connect to each other in a single online platform. There is a need for a single online platform of which all parties are members to complete a foreign trade transaction using a single integrated electronic document. Finally, opinions of the professional have been received for seeing the real procedures. Literature and practices have been synthesized and partial solution grouping the foreign trade documents in terms of their functions has been suggested. To constitute a base for the initial step of the road to integrated foreign trade document a taxonomical table has been prepared. Aim of this table to guide the firms that search for solutions to develop electronic equivalent of paper based documents.
