With the current situation of Covid19 outbreaks and the execution of lockdowns and social restrictions and distancing, people are turning to the use of smart technologies to communicate and perform daily activities. In fact, current education scenario during Covid19 has increased the need to use new media in the teaching and learning processes. In order to be a good user of the new media technology, Muslims must advocate to the principles of upholding knowledge and guidance from truthful sources of knowledge such as the Quran and Hadith to avoid becoming deviant users of the new media. The main objective of this paper is to present the Islamic perspectives in terms of the ethics of using the new media in education during covid19. This concept paper analyses data extracted from referencing secondary sources such as academic journal articles, scholarly books and online newspaper articles to understand new media and the current online distance learning situations taking place during the Covid19 phenomena. These guidelines would contribute towards aiding teachers and students to have an increase of knowledge and awareness towards the usage of new media as tools during the distance learning transformation while facing the hurdles of life-long learning situations during Covid19.
New media such as smartphones, social media, computers, virtual world, single media, and online games are dominantly used in the modern world. Nevertheless, Islam has outlined that Muslims should uphold knowledge and guidance from truthful sources of knowledge such as the Qur'an and Hadith to prevent them from becoming deviant users of the new media. The main objective of this paper is to present the Islamic perspectives in terms of the benefits, challenges, and moral ethics of using the new media in education and also in the society in general, so that contemporary users of the new media technology have the knowledge which can guide them to embrace the transformation responsibly and humbly.
Communicators refer to Muslims who send Islamic messages to be shared. All Muslimsbear the responsibility as Islamic communicator and thus, need to equip themselves with themethod of da'wah called manhãj rabbãniyyah in order for the communication process to beeffective. Manhãj rabbãniyyah encompasses three principles highlighted in Qur'an, namelyhikmah, mau’izah and al-mujãdalah. Furthermore, Islam also emphasizes somecharacteristics of a quality communicator such as trusted, fair, reliable, able to employ goodcommunication method and, true and responsible so that the communicator be seen as acredible person. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the elements of manhãj rabbãniyyahand its relationship with communicator’s credibility. The results of this study found that allthree elements of manhãj rabbãniyyah and communicator’s credibility factors have a highCronbach's Alpha value; above α> 0.7. In addition, analysis of Pearson correlation betweenmanhãj rabbãniyyah and credibility recorded a strong relationship; α> 0.6. The mauʿizahelement shows a higher value of the correlation coefficient than the other elements. Itconcludes that the mauʿizah element is most significant than the other two elements. Thefact that the respondents are among the public citizens may contribute to this result.Therefore, it meets the views of scholars who claimed that the public at mass is more suitableto be preached through the method of mauʿizah. Abstrak Komunikator merujuk kepada orang Islam yang menyampaikan pesan-pesan Islam untuk dijadikan milik bersama. Setiap individu Muslim menggalas tanggung jawab sebagai seorang komunikator Islam serta perlu melengkapkan diri dengan metode dakwah yang disebut manhaj rabbãniyyah agar proses komunikasi menjadi efektif. Manhaj rabbãniyyah merangkumi tiga asas pendakwahan yang digariskan melalui al-Quran iaitu hikmah, mau’izah dan al-mujãdalah. Tambahan pula, Islam turut menekankan beberapa ciri komunikator yang berkualiti seperti amanah, adil, boleh dipercayai, mengguna pakai kaedah yang baik, benar dan bertanggung jawab agar komunikator dilihat sebagai seorang berkredibiliti. Lantaran itu, kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis elemen manhaj rabbãniyyah dan hubungannya dengan kredibiliti komunikator. Hasil kajian mendapati ketiga-tiga elemen manhaj rabbãniyyah dan faktor-faktor kredibiliti komunikator mempunyai nilai Alpha Cronbach yang tinggi melebihi α > 0.7.Selain itu, hubungan korelasi Pearson di antara manhaj rabbãniyyah dengan kredibiliti turut mencatatkan hubungan yang kukuh α >0.6. Elemen mauʿizah memperlihat nilai pekali korelasi yang lebih tinggi berbanding elemen lain lantas disimpulkan elemen mauʿizah lebih signifikan berbanding dua elemen lain.
Islamic scholars have stated that educators need to play the function of a teacher and achieve the dignity of being an educator, educate with love, possess fine morals and guide others towards benefit. In today's modern world, educators need to be knowledgeable and at the same time always diversify teaching techniques in order to be more effective and interesting to students. This paper aims to present and make recommendations for various classroom activities and ideas, especially Nasheed songs for use in language classes. Essentially, using Nasheed songs in classroom activities is one of the ways to diversify the use of music genres in the teaching and learning process. Using English Nasheed songs laden with positive moral values could reduce the anxiety of learning English, and provide an engaging, soothing and enjoyable experience for language learners. By using the proposed language games and activities, English teachers bring forward the use of Nasheed songs with its melodious music arts and good moral values and incorporate language skills games and critical thinking skills together in a meaningful teaching and learning process. It is hoped that this article would add to the knowledge on a diversified music genre which is English Nasheed songs and contribute towards assisting teachers in using Nasheed songs in the language classroom.
Laman sosial Facebook merupakan sebahagian rangkaian media sosial yang mempunyai peranan besar dan semakin mendapat sambutan yang sangat menggalakkan dari kalangan rakyat Malaysia. Dari kalangan pengguna Facebook, terdapat istilah khusus bagi pengguna yang dilihat mempunyai pengaruh yang ramai, iaitu ‘Social Influencer’ (pengguna media sosial berpengaruh). Isitilah ini merujuk kepada seseorang yang mampu menggunakan media sosial untuk menjana perbincangan atau mempengaruhi pengikut-pengikut mereka. Biasanya mereka adalah orang yang berbakat, berpengetahuan, dan mempunyai pengalaman yang memberi inspirasi kepada orang-orang di sekeliling mereka sama ada keluarga, rakan-rakan atau dari kalangan pengikut (follower) mereka. Dari kalangan mereka pula, ada yang sangat terkehadapan dari sudut kebajikan sosial dengan menghulurkan bantuan dan sumbangan, sehingga memberi inspirasi kepada ramai orang. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji starategi komunikasi efektif para pengguna media sosial Facebook yang berpengaruh ini bagi membudayakan sikap kedermawanan (filantropi) di Malaysia. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kajian kualitatif iaitu kaedah dokumentasi dan observasi, iaitu melakukan pengamatan langsung terhadap media sosial terpilih, iaitu Facebook. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan media sosial, khususnya Facebook dengan strategi komunikasi yang berkesan, sangat berperanan dalam membentuk budaya kedermawanan dalam kalangan rakyat Malaysia.
