Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate and develop an integrated theoretical relationship by including destination image and attitudes into the quality-value-satisfaction-loyalty paradigm in the context of beach tourism. Design/methodology/approach A personal-administered survey was conducted using a convenient sampling technique to collect data from 601 tourists who had visited popular beach destinations in Bangladesh. Then, the structural relationships between the factors likely to affect tourist attitudes and loyalty were examined. Findings The findings reveal that both service quality and perceived values have a direct effect on destination image, tourist attitudes and satisfaction. Additionally, destination image and satisfaction significantly affect tourist attitudes and loyalty. Research limitations/implications The direct relationship of perceived service quality and perceived value with tourist loyalty was ignored in the model due to reporting consecutive indirect relationship between them in prior studies. Practical implications These findings contribute to the extension of theoretical and managerial knowledge, especially in a beach tourism setting, where little research has been done to investigate the proposed relationships. Originality/value The originality of this study lies in providing theoretical and empirical evidence regarding the effect of service quality and perceived value, especially on destination image and tourist attitude to behaviour in the loyalty model, which has been scarcely examined in the prior tourism literature.

Sulfur‐containing scaffolds play a significant role in many important biological processes. The thiazole‐2‐imine derivatives have gained significant biological attention due to their interesting pharmacological activities and act as potential therapeutic agents. Many of their syntheses suffer from the drawbacks such as the handling of toxic reagents, harsh reaction conditions, longer reaction times and tedious separation procedures. To their easy access, we applied first time flow electrochemical approach under free supporting electrolytes conditions and without the use of expensive catalysts and reagents. This is not only the first electrochemical cyclization to access thiazolidin‐2‐imines also represents the first intramolecular sulfurization of unfunctionalized terminal alkenes. This flow electrolysis of N‐allylic thioureas generates radical intermediates of nitrogen and sulfur that cyclized via oxysulfurization of terminal alkenes and gives thiazolidin‐2‐imines with good to high yields under mild, green and environmentally friendly conditions.

Acetone semicarbazone (a Schiff base) has been synthesized and characterized. Its antineoplastic activity has been studied against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) cells in Swiss albino mice by monitoring parameters like tumor weight, survival time, tumor cell growth inhibition and haematological characteristics. It was found that the compound at dose 2.0 mg/kg/day i.p (intra peritoneal) significantly decreases tumor weight, increases life span and reduces tumor cell growth rate in comparison to those of EAC bearing mice. The compound also alters the depleted haematological parameters like red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), haemoglobin (Hb) % and differential counts (i.e. lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes) of EAC bearing mice towards normal. The compound enhances the number of macrophages in normal mice. The toxic effects of the compound on the host are not very high and the host recovers gradually towards normal within a few days after treatment. The compound can therefore be considered as a new potent antitumor agent. The efficiency is more or less comparable to that of a standard drug like bleomycin (0.3 mg/kg/day, i.p.).

Atmospheric particulate matters were collected on quartz fibre filters for 24 hours with a low volume sampler from January 2014 to March 2014 at the Southeast Asian mega city (Dhaka, Bangladesh). Particulate matters samples were analysed for eleven trace metals with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) at Cà Foscari University of Venice, Italy. Trace metals were extracted from filters with digestion method using a mixture of HNO3 and H2O2. The average concentration of the determined trace metals of As, Cd, Ni, Cu, Pb, Cr, Fe, Mn, Zn, Sband Se were 3.06, 6.28, 3.77, 11.98, 305.6, 9.2, 2057.0, 42.2, 303.3, 5.47 and 2.43 ng•m −3 , respectively. Arsenic concentration is much lower in the atmosphere of Dhaka, though Bangladesh has severe arsenic problem in the ground water. Lead and cadmium concentrations showed decreasing trend in Dhaka compared than previous measurements-but still they have very high levels compared than Europe and USA. There is very limited information for Mn, Sb and Se concentrations in Dhaka air. Correlation studies showed that several trace metals had potential joint sources of origin, e.g., manganese is highly correlated with iron (r 2 = 0.97) and nickel (r 2 = 0.84), copper (r 2 = 0.86); lead with arsenic (r 2 = 0.79) and antimony (r 2 = 0.78). Enrichment factors analysis was also done with the data base for the respective metals in earth crust and coal fly ash. As and Cu both have combined sources, whereas Cd, Pb and Zn were from coal fly ash.Trace metals concentrations in Dhaka city air were much higher than Europe and USA but comparable or slightly lower than other south Asian countries. New thiosemicarbazide-linked acridines 3a–c were prepared and investigated as chemosensors for the detection of biologically and environmentally important anions. The compounds 3a–c were found selective for fluoride (F−) with no affinity for other anions, i.e. −OAc, Br−, I−, HSO4−, SO42−, PO43−, ClO3−, ClO4−, CN− and SCN−. Further, upon the gradual addition of a fluoride anion (F−) source (tetrabutylammonium fluoride), a well-defined change in colour of the solution of probes 3a–c was observed. The anion-sensing process was studied in detail via UV–visible absorption, fluorescence and 1H-NMR experiments. Moreover, during the synthesis of acridine probes 3a–c nickel fluoride (NiF2), a rarely explored transition metal fluoride salt, was used as the catalyst. Theoretical studies via density functional theory were also carried out to further investigate the sensing and anion (F−) selectivity pattern of these probes.
