The increasing demand of routing in the field of communication is the most important subject in ad hoc networks now a days. Flying Ad Hoc Network (FANET) is one of the emerging areas that evolved from Mobile Ad Hoc Networks. Selecting the best optimal path in any network is a real challenge for a routing protocol. Because the network performance like throughput, Quality of Service (QoS), user experience, response time and other key parameters depend upon the efficiency of the algorithm running inside the routing protocol. The complexity and diversity of the problem is augmented due to dynamic spatial and temporal mobility of FANET nodes. Due to these challenges the performance and efficiency of the routing protocol becomes very critical. This paper presents a novel routing protocol for FANET using modified AntHocNet. Ant colony optimization technique or metaheuristics in general has shown better dependability and performance as compared to other legacy best path selection techniques. Energy stabilizing parameter introduced in this study improves energy efficiency and overall network performance. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol is better than generic Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and other traditional routing protocols utilized in FANET. A group of small UAVs can synergize to form a flying ad hoc network (FANET). The small UAVs are, typically, prone to security lapses because of limited onboard power, restricted computing ability, insufficient bandwidth, etc. Such limitations hinder the applicability of standard cryptographic techniques. Thus, assuring confidentiality and authentication on part of small UAV remains a far-fetched goal. We aim to address such an issue by proposing an identity-based generalized signcryption scheme. The lightweight security scheme employs multiaccess edge computing (MEC) whereby the primary UAV, as a MEC node, provides offloading to the computationally fragile member UAVs. The scheme is based on the concept of the hyperelliptic curve (HEC), which is characterized by a smaller key size and is, therefore, suitable for small UAVs. The scheme is robust since it offers confidentiality and authentication simultaneously as well as singly. Formal as well as informal security analyses and the validation results, using the Automated Validation for Internet Security Validation and Application (AVISPA) tool, second such notion. Comparative analysis with the existing schemes further authenticates the sturdiness of the proposed scheme. As a case study, the scheme is applied for monitoring crops in an agricultural field. It has been found out that the scheme promises higher security and incurs lower computational and communication costs.

Power scheduling of domestic appliances is a vital preference for bridging the gap between demand and generation of electricity in a microgrid. For a stable microgrid, an acceptable mechanism must reduce the peak to average ratio (PAR) of power demand with supplementary benefits for consumers as reduced electricity charges. Recent studies have focused on PAR and cost reduction for a small consumer population. Furthermore, researchers have mainly considered homogeneous consumer loads. This study focuses on residential power scheduling for electricity cost reduction for consumers and load profile PAR curtailment for a relatively large consumer population with non-homogeneous loads. A sample population of 1000 consumers from various classes of society is considered. The proposed dynamic clustered community home energy management system (DCCHEMS) allows the clustering of appliances based on time overlap criteria. Comparatively flatter power demand is attained by utilizing the clustered appliances in conjunction with particle swarm optimization under the influence of user-defined constraints. Modified inclined block rates with real-time electricity pricing strategies are deployed to minimize the electricity costs. DCCHEMS achieved higher efficiency rates in contrast to the traditional non-clustering and static clustering optimization schemes. An improvement of 21% in peak to average ratio, 4% in cost reduction, and 19% in variance to mean ratio is obtained.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has recently gained significant attention due to their efficient structures, cost-effectiveness, easy availability, and tendency to form an ad hoc wireless mobile network. IoT-enabled UAV is a new research domain that uses location tracking with the advancement of aerial technology. In this context, the importance of 3D aerial networks is attracting a lot of attention recently. It has various applications related to information processing, communication, and location-based services. Location identification of wireless nodes is a challenging job and of extreme importance. In this study, we introduced a novel technique for finding indoor and open-air three-dimensional (3D) areas of nodes by measuring the signal strength. The mathematical formulation is based on a path loss model and decision tree machine learning classifier. We constructed 2D and 3D models to gather more accurate information on the nodes. Simulation findings demonstrate that the proposed machine learning-based model excels in nodes location estimation, the actual and estimated distance of different nodes, and calculation of received signal strength in aerial ad hoc networks. In addition, the decision tree constructs an offline phase control in the flying vehicle’s location to enhance the time complexity along with experimental accuracy.

Linear antenna arrays (LAs) can be used to accurately predict the direction of arrival (DOAs) of various targets of interest in a given area. However, under certain conditions, LA suffers from the problem of ambiguities among the angles of targets, which may result in misinterpretation of such targets. In order to cope up with such ambiguities, various techniques have been proposed. Unfortunately, none of them fully resolved such a problem because of rank deficiency and high computational cost. We aimed to resolve such a problem by proposing an algorithm using differential geometry. The proposed algorithm uses a specially designed doublet antenna array, which is made up of two individual linear arrays. Two angle observation models, ambiguous observation model (AOM) and estimated observation model (EOM), are derived for each individual array. The ambiguous set of angles is contained in the AOM, which is obtained from the corresponding array elements using differential geometry. The EOM for each array, on the other hand, contains estimated angles of all sources impinging signals on each array, as calculated by a direction-finding algorithm such as the genetic algorithm. The algorithm then contrasts the EOM of each array with its AOM, selecting the output of that array whose EOM has the minimum correlation with its corresponding AOM. In comparison to existing techniques, the proposed algorithm improves estimation accuracy and has greater precision in antenna aperture selection, resulting in improved resolution capabilities and the potential to be used more widely in practical scenarios. The simulation results using MATLAB authenticates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Reinforcing connection in flying ad hoc networks using routing protocols is the optimal way to reduce end‐to‐end delay. However, utilizing flying networks with the deployment of routing techniques is a very difficult task to tackle the dynamic pattern of aerial vehicles. Internet of flying vehicles is the emerging area which is still in the evolutionary process; however, the interconnectivity can be efficiently formulated by applying security algorithms for improving signal power. In unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), every node will have some specific location, direction, speed, velocity, and acceleration which will identify and relate information about mobility model. This paper proposes a novel routing technique, which is the extension of AntHocNet due to mobile characteristics; it is termed as flying nature inspired algorithm. Also a case study is conducted to improve the signal power using modeled learning approach called decision tree. Experimental simulations are managed on network simulators that prove the proposed work efficiency.
