Background Regardless of attaining adequate knowledge regarding oral hygiene, physical activity, and healthy eating habits, dental students still face oral health problems. This study was aimed to assess the association of oral hygiene habits, physical activity, and eating habits with the BMI in the dental students. Method This multi centric cross-sectional study was conducted from January to May 2021 in Pakistan. Three hundred and eighty-six study participants enrolled as undergraduate dental students, both males and females, were included in the study. A questionnaire used to gather data, was modified from a study conducted by Jouhar et al. Chi-square testing was used in order to assess the relationship between two categorical variables. Linear regression was performed to assess the association with putative confounders. Statistical significance was considered for p value < 0.05. Results Regarding brushing teeth, 57% of the underweight individuals brushed once daily, 69.8% of the healthy, 79.2% of overweight, and 48% of obese participants brushed twice. Horizontal brushing technique was performed by 50% of the underweight participants, followed by scrub technique. A soft bristled brush was frequently used by underweight (42.9%) and healthy (66%) individuals, while a medium textured bristle brush was used by overweight (62.3%) and obese (54.2%) participants. Majority of the underweight (64.3%), overweight (48.1%), and 45.8% of obese individuals had meals thrice a day, while healthy (62.3%) individuals had meals twice a day. Conclusion This study further intensified the contributing role of having an excessive dietary intake and sugar consumption in causing obesity and dental caries. Findings from the current study, identify a statistically significant relationship that exists between BMI levels with oral hygiene, eating habits and the physical activity.

This in vitro study aimed to compare the fracture resistance between pressed custom-made polyetheretherketone (PEEK) post and core and fibre reinforced post and composite core. A total of 40 single rooted extracted teeth were selected, endodontically treated, and prepared to receive the posts. Specimens were randomly divided into two main groups (n=20/group): group 1, (PEEK); group 2, fibre post. PEEK post was manufactured with a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing system further divided into four sub groups (P7, P12, F7, F12) based on lengths 7 and 12 mm at which the posts were cemented. All posts were cemented with self-adhesive resin cement, and specimens were stored in 0.1% thymol solution during the experiment at all the times except during preparation and testing. A universal testing machine was used to measure the fracture resistance. The fracture resistance values (mean and SD, in newtons) were 1255N (P7), 1562N (P12), 1065N (F7), and 1384N (F12). Only P12 exhibited a significant difference (p,0.05). The turkey test showed an association between failure mode and post and- core material. In the remaining groups, most failures were nonrepairable and related to fracture. Customized post-and-cores of PEEK exhibited good mechanical performance. Their fracture resistance was comparable to that observed for fibre posts.

A total of 500 dentate subjects were selected from the department of Prosthodontics,. The exclusion criteria included the subjects with history of orthodontic treatment, extractions, drifting and attrition of the teeth. Subjects having any restoration in upper anterior segment, any facial deformity, crowding or spacing of anterior teeth were also excluded. The informed consent was taken. The patients were seated in the upright position and were asked to look straight. The inner canthal distance was measured using the digital caliper. The inner canine width was measured with the help of dental floss placed from the distal surface of canine of one side to the distal surface of the canine of the opposite side. Both the parameters were measured three times by the single person to ensure the accuracy and the mean was taken. The measurements were recorded in a predesigned Proforma. RESULTS: The statistical results of this study showed that there was no correlation between the inner canthal distance and the combined mesiodistal width of maxillary anterior teeth CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the inner canthal distance was not a reliable predictor to select maxillary anterior teeth width for edentulous patients in the study group

Objectives: To determine the Awareness, Attitude and Practices related to Covid-19 in general public of twin cities of Pakistan.Materials and Methods: This study was conducted across the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the months of August and October 2021. An adaptive cross sectional study was conducted, utilizing self administered questionnaires, distributed amongst patients above 15 years old in multiple hospitals. Confi dentiality and voluntary participation was ensured in the collection of data throughout the study. Results: About 305 patients participated in this study, of which 185 (60.3%) were male and 122 (39.7%) were females. Results showed that majority of the 188 participants (61.2%) believe that Covid-19 spreads due to close contact with an infected person. 177 participants (57.7%) believe that it spreads by coughing, followed by 50 (16.3%) participants believing transmission is due to touching contaminated surfaces. Around 86.3% (265 participants) say that the symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough and diffi culty breathing. When asked about prevention; washing hands with soap and water, wearing masks, maintaining social distance, avoiding touching nose and eyes with hands and avoiding contact with infected people were the most chosen options by the participants. 229 participants (74.6%) claimed to have arranged for hand washing with soap inside or outside their houses and 133 participants (43.3%) had temporarily closed their homes for outside people. Conclusion: The general public are well-aware regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic, having basic knowledge of its modes of transmission, prevention and treatment of the disease.

During the past few years replacement of the missing teeth with dental implants has become an indispensible part of modern dental practice. As with other branches of dentistry for the optimal success in dental implant treatment proper diagnosis and treatment planning are the prerequisites. For proper diagnosis and treatment planning Implant imaging techniques and their accurate interpretation is a very crucial step .Radiography is the only non-surgical method of assessment of quality and the quantity of the bone at implant site. With the advent of several types of imaging techniques ranging from conventional two dimensional intraoral periapical radiographs and orthopantograph to highly sophisticated multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) selection of appropriate imaging technique for implant treatment planning has become a challenge for the clinicians. In this article latest imaging techniques used in implant dental practice are discussed along with their advantages and disadvantages in comparison with the conventional imaging techniques.
