A simple image method is described to predict the attenuation caused by a semi-infinite permeable layer on the static magnetic field produced by a 3-D conductor array. It is shown that the permeable layer gives rise to a array of current element images, of progressively smaller magnitude and increasing distance from the layer. The convergence of the method is examined. The method is applied to the problem of evaluating bottom electrode bus designs for a DC electric arc furnace.Index Terms-Image method, magnetostatic fields, permeable plate, magnetic shielding.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
