Food controls, also known as multi-functional physical and economic prevention, are significant for maintaining a healthy mind, body, and energy, as well as reducing consumption and poverty. As a result, the study aims to look at the impact of food controls on both human resource development and poverty reduction. The Holy Qur'an and Hadith, as well as the circumstances of Muslim nations, are utilized to describe food behavior and its influence on the workforce, poverty removal, and knowledge development. First, the investigation finds Mohammad's (PBUH) eating pattern and guiding principles, both of which are supported by the Qur'an in terms of food behavior and management. When it comes to eating behavior, the study finds that failing to learn Islam's guiding principles on food control leads to a plethora of problems such as poverty, sickness, greed, corruption, and waste. Those who waste less food and eat less are highly driven to enhance their health and knowledge generation abilities, both of which are advantageous to poverty reduction. Purpose Apartment purchase is an increasing investment trend in Islamic banks as clients trusted to eradicate the interest from financial dealings to capture the Islamic Principles. The paper aims to investigate the Shariah compliance in the investment of apartment purchases under Shirkah-ul milk in Bangladesh Islamic banks. Design/Methodology/Approach This study examined the perception of 125 clients and 25 managers from five key Islamic banks on the investment practices of apartment purchases. This study applied two data analysis methods: reflective measurement model was operated for examining the consistency, reliability, multicollinearity problems and validity; and Smart PLS-SEM (structural equation model) was used to investigate the direct impact of each explanatory variable on Shari’ah compliance in Islamic banks. Findings The results indicated that Islamic banks could not strictly maintain the Shariah compliance in apartment purchase. Such Shari’ah non-compliance is due to lack of knowledge and understanding with regard to bank’s objectives and philosophy, weak Shariah board, audit, weak regulatory body and supervision problem. These findings also firmly match clients’ and managers’ perceptions. Research Limitations/Implications A limited size of clients and bankers were involved in this study. The study focuses only on perceptions of Islamic banks’ clients and managers and avoids Muslim clients who involved conventional banks. Originality/Value This study provides Shariah-compliant alternatives in investment avenue for apartment purchases. These Shariah modes include Apartment Purchase Musharakah Mutanaqasa; Bai-Muajjal; and Apartment Purchases under Shirkah-ul Milk, which captures various limitations against current apartment purchase practices as well as to develop clients’ trust in Islamic banks.

This paper examines the regulation of corporate governance on leverage structure decision-making in Bangladesh from 2003 to 2017. Appropriate panel methods are employed to control the problems of serial correlation, heteroskedasticity, and the cross-sectional nature of manufacturing companies. The study finds that corporate governance attributes such as board size, managerial ownership, and duality are the dominant factors for leverage decision-making. The results also indicate that control variables such as firm size and profitability have an influential role on leverage decision-making in Bangladesh. Our findings substantiate the idea that political and family connections to corporate governance structure greatly influence the leverage decision-making of corporate firms in Bangladesh. Int. J. Financial Stud. 2019, 7, 50 2 of 16 weak corporate governance, such as family issues, institutional issues, political affiliation, corruption, and the lack of a sense of responsibility and accountability. In this circumstance, financial managers cannot freely make optimal financial decisions in terms of firm value and sustainability. Weak financial decision-making incurs a great deal of loss, which threatens sustainability. The previous studies also consider only primary data, and, to the best of our knowledge, they did not consider the main corporate governance attributes of board size, board composition, board independence, managerial ownership, institutional shares, and CEO duality from secondary data. Hence, the relationship between corporate governance and leverage structure decision-making in Bangladesh has not been fully explored. In this respect, in Bangladesh, there is an urgent need to determine whether corporate governance has any impact on leverage structure decision-making or not.We have investigated the manufacturing sector for several reasons: First, past literature has been primarily dedicated to the analysis of developed countries and there are very few studies focused on developing countries such as Bangladesh. Second, Bangladesh has been experiencing embezzlement in capital markets resulting from political weaponry and government intervention. These consequences radically affect the financial decision-making of manufacturing companies in Bangladesh. Third, the manufacturing sector provides the basic needs of people and fuels economic growth in Bangladesh, and it is highly vulnerable due to a lack of high-quality corporate governance. Poor accounting and auditing standards, bad accountability, low transparency, managerial inefficiency, and political turmoil (Pontines and Siregar 2008) have led to the poor sustainable development of the sector.The major contributions of the paper are designed to add new insights to the current literature: (i) The previous literature on this subject in Bangladesh is few and partial.
