The objective of this study is to describe student’s creative thinking level. Creative thinking is a mental activity to find a new idea or a variety of solutions. The criteria for creative thinking are fluency, flexibility, and novelty. The subjects were eleventh grade students who had visual- spatial intelligence. The level of creative thinking analyzed based on components of creative thinking that the subject met on geometry HOTS problems. Students are given a questionnaire to find out their type of intelligence. Then, students are given open-ended questions. Based on the analysis of students answer, visual-spatial students show a higher level of creative thinking. This indicates that visual-spatial students have better creative thinking skills in learning mathematics, especially on geometry.
One of the studen learning goals mathematics is mathematical reasoning for outcomes training student to solve the problems. One of the problems faced by students is word questions. There are several students responses in dealing with word question which is known as Adversity Quotient. This research aims to describe the students' problem solving skills in system of three-variable linear equations subject based on Polya's theory in terms of Adversity Quotient. This is a qualitative descriptive research with three subjects of students class X IPA 1 SMAN Arjasa Jember, there are one climber student, one camper student and one quitter student. These subjects took purposive sampling with consideration according to the results of questionnaire scores that meet each of the criteria of Adversity Quotient. Data collection techniques used were questionnaires, tests, interviews and observations. The validity test used is technical triangulation. Data analyzed through data condensation, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that student with the type of climber was able to meet all the indicators of problem solving in the problem of the word questions which included indicators of understanding the problem, planning the solution, carrying out the plan of solving and re-checking. Camper type student met all indicators of problem solving except at the re-checking stage. Quitter type student in completing word questions met the stage of understanding the problem and planning the solution, while the stage of carrying out the plan and re-checking is not fulfilled by the quitter student.
Covid-19 is a global emergency epidemic that affect all areas of life including the economy. Growth in the world economy has decreased due to lack of purchasing power that lasts for only at home policy. This policy is carried out to prevent the spread of covid-19, which on the other hand actually increases the use of e-commerce and mobile commerce as means of shopping. The use of e-commerce and mobile commerce is considered capable of helping consumers to buy basic necessities and health that are needed during activities at home. Buying and selling transaction through e-commerce and mobile commerce have increases during covid-19. Which is then utilized by e-commerce and mobile commerce by providing various attractive offers for consumers. The consumer does not need to interact with the seller and the items needed will be sent home.
Communication is an important ability for every human being to have. In this research, the focus of communication is on students’ mathematical communication skills. Mathematical communication is divided into two parts, namely written communication and verbal communication. If students have good verbal and written mathematical communication skills, then they are easier to express ideas and strategies and are able to write the stages of problem solving well, especially word problem. This is because word problem requires special attention in their solution. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze mathematical communication errors experienced by students in solving mathematical word problem. This study aims to describe the students’ written and oral mathematical communication skills in solving word problem. This type of research is qualitative-descriptive. The research subjects were three junior high school students. Based on the results of the study, there were still students who could not communicate their mathematical ideas well. Students’ written communication error is in converting problem sentences into mathematical models. Student’s writing problem solving are still not in order or coherent. The research finding indicated that the students’ verbal communication skills are better than their written communication skills.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
