Recently, technology has become an educational necessity in global-digital era. Facing these phenomena, social studies (SS) should make innovations related to changes of 21 st -century skills and learning paradigm, which is characterized by the principles of disclosure of information, computing, automation, and communication. Technology integration into SS learning is one of the learning innovations in the global-digital era, and powerfully supports the National Council for Social Studies (NCSS) as stated in their visions: meaningful, powerful, value-based, challenging, and active. It also strongly supports the development of three core skills of the 21st-century, including learning and innovation skills; information, media and technology skills; life and career skills that developed in partnership with the Partnership Forum for 21st-Century Skills (P21). This paper examines and describes academics evolution toward a commitment and further developments in research; 21st-century skills map for the SS; and the implications for developing teachers' competences and teachers' education curriculum.
The purpose of the study is to describe student's performance in tutorial online (tuton) of Social Studies through developing the 5Es -Engage Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate-Learning Cycle Model (the 5Es-LCM). The study conducted at UT-Online portal uses the Research and Development (R&D) method. The research subjects consisted of 21 UT's students from 16 UT's Regional Center (UPBJJ) in Indonesia. Data collected use the documentation and validation techniques and analyzed use the descriptivepercentage techniques. Qualitatively, student's performance is 'low', viewed from their activities/participations in initiation, discussion, and ask-questions forums. Qualitatively, however, the quality of their performance is 'good', viewed from processes and contents of discussion and ask-questions; timeliness in the completion and scores of assignments; and competencies achieved. Some factors cause the low of students' performance in the tuton are the limited time for access, and technical factors.
This study aims to determine the effect of participatory leadership style, motivation and work environment on employee performance at the Department of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) of Yapen Islands Regency, Papua, Indonesia. This research is a quantitative research with the sources of data collected in this study are primary data and secondary data. This study used a saturated sample with a total of 101 people and applied multiple regression to analyse the data. It found that the participatory leadership did not affect the employee performance, while motivation and work environment influence the employee performance. It implies that the latter variables are the employee performance’s key drivers and should be the main priorities.
This study aims to produce hypermedia-based learning tools that are valid, practical and effective to improve the social science learning outcomes of elementary school students. This research used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model using an experimental design. The population of this study was teachers of SDN Tamanbaru and SDN Kebalenan along with grade IV students of SDN Tamanbaru amounting to 13 students and grade IV of SDN Kebalenan amounting to 97 students. This research instrument used observation, tests, and questionnaires. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques were validity test, reliability test, N-Gain test, and Independent t-test. The results showed: 1) hypermedia-based learning devices have very valid quality with a score of 92.5% and an average reliability of 90.2%; 2) Effective category hypermedia-based learning tools based on the N-Gain value on the limited test of 31.76%; and the experimental class at 34.2%; the results of the independent ttest test obtained the value of the sig lavene's test was 0.203>0.05 and the equality of means obtained a sig of 0.034<0.05; 3) Hypermedia-based learning tools are very practical based on student responses to limited tests, with an average score of 87.70% and the average score of experimental classes of 91.07%; and the ability to manage the learning process on limited tests by 91.2% and experimental classes by 96.4%. Thus, hypermedia-based learning tools are valid, practical, and effective so that they can be used in the social science learning process on the theme of the diversity of work in grade IV elementary school.
The student's creative thinking skills are very important, but in fact, it has not met an expectation. In this study, researchers tried to apply learning materials base on research-based learning to improve their creative thinking skills. This research is using a mixed method, namely a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative method will be used to analyze the type of interval data of student learning outcomes, while the qualitative method will be used to analyze an ordinal data of creative thinking skills. The research respondents consist of two classes, namely a control class as many as 31 students and an experimental class as many as 30 students. The score of the independent sample t-test from post-test shows that between the control class and the experimental class has a significant difference with the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000 (p = <0.05). It can be concluded that the implementation of learning materials based on research-based learning can improve the elementary school students creative thinking skills in solving “polamatika” problems.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
