We examined the influence of information technology (IT) acceptance on organizational agility. The study was based on a well-established theoretical model, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). We attempted to identify the relationships between IT acceptance and organizational agility in order to see how the acceptance of technology contributes to a firm's ability to be an agile competitor. Structural equation modeling techniques were used to analyze the data. Results from a survey involving 329 managers and executives in manufacturing firms in Malaysia showed that actual system or technology usage had the strongest direct effect on organizational agility. Meanwhile, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use of IT influenced organizational agility indirectly through actual systems or technology use and attitudes towards using the technology. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make remarkable contributions to the economic growth of developing countries. As a newly industrialized country, the Malaysian economy predominantly depends on the SME sector. However, this study seeks to redress this by reporting the key drivers influencing the internationalization process of SMEs such as market orientation, government regulation and competitive advantage on internationalization of manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia. To empirically test those factors, primary data was gathered using the survey questionnaire method. The survey instrument was distributed to all manufacturing SMEs involved in exporting which are located in the Klang Valley of Malaysia and total 257 questionnaires were received (FMM, 2012). The findings indicate the significant role of market orientation, government regulation and competitive advantage in their process of internationalization. Furthermore, the study has added to the body of knowledge by introducing competitive advantage as a mediating variable between market orientation and government regulation with internationalization of manufacturing SMEs in Malaysia. The results of this research could help practitioners and managers of SMEs in the manufacturing sector to be in a better position to improve their internationalization efforts.
The pattern of recurring construction problems encountered in electrical transmission substation projects is a very pertinent phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to explore the possible reasons for such recurrences and to uncover unusual factors. To achieve this, unstructured interviews were conducted. A list of possible reasons were collected. The reasons were found to be interrelated and have mutual influence. The study revealed four unusual factors: `management did not care', `inherited problems from earlier phases', `perceptions of project success were not the same', and `projects were completed anyway'. The study also uncovered some underlying conceptual ambiguities in which further investigations were necessary. These ambiguities included the perspectives of project, the perception of project success and the criteria of project success.
