Abstract. Toys are "the closest children's friend" and become an integral part of their play world. Toys are a source of joy for children, but they can be risky and dangerous. This study aimed to analyze the influence of family characteristics, perception, and parental involvement on purchasing decision of toys for children. This study used cross-sectional study design. The location was chosen purposively involving two pre-schools. The samples were 200 parents who had ever bought toys. The husband or wife as decision makers in purchasing toys was interviewed using a structured questionnaire to collect information in the decision to purchase toys. The results showed that the perception of toys had a positive and significant relationship with the involvement on purchasing decision of toys for children. Perception of toys also had influence on purchase frequence.Key words: involvement, perception, purchasing decision, toys Abstrak. Produk mainan anak adalah "teman terdekat" anak dan menjadi bagian yang tidak terpisahkan dari anak-anak dalam bermain. Mainan anak merupakan sumber kegembiraan bagi anak, namun justru dipenuhi dengan resiko dan bahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik keluarga, persepsi dan keterlibatan orangtua terhadap keputusan pembelian produk mainan anak. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan cross sectional study. Pemilihan lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara purposif dengan melibatkan dua Taman Kanak-kanak (TK). Melibatkan 200 orang tua yang pernah membeli produk mainan anak. Suami atau istri sebagai pengambil keputusan dalam pembelian produk mainan anak diwawancarai dengan menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur untuk menggali informasi keputusannya dalam pembelian produk mainan anak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi mengenai produk mainan anak mempunyai hubungan positif dan signifikan dengan keterlibatan orang tua dalam memutuskan pembelian produk mainan anak. Terdapat pengaruh persepsi mengenai produk mainan anak terhadap frekuensi pembelian.Kata kunci: keputusan pembelian produk maian anak, keterlibatan, persepsi, produk mainan anak
Salah satu penyebab dari rendahnya kompetensi sosial anak disebabkan oleh banyaknya media yang berisi perilaku antisosial yang diakses anak dan juga pengaruh negatif dari teman sebaya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh sosialisasi media orang tua dan dukungan sosial teman sebaya terhadap kompetensi sosial anak usia sekolah dasar di Kota Bogor. Studi ini menggunakan metode survei dengan desain cross sectional. Contoh adalah 120 siswa yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik pengacakan sederhana d ari siswa kelas 4 di tiga sekolah dasar di Kota Bogor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi sosial anak berada pada tingkat yang tinggi pada setiap dimensinya (mengenal diri, manajemen diri, mengenal lingkungan sosial, keahlian membina hubungan). Faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh positif pada kompetensi sosial anak adalah bimbingan aktif menonton televisi ibu, jumlah jam baca anak, jumlah jam baca ayah, dan usia ayah. Faktor yang berpengaruh negatif adalah jumlah jam menonton televisi ayah, pembatasan membaca buku oleh ibu, jumlah buku anak, jumlah buku ayah, dan usia ibu. Penelitian ini juga menemukan perbedaan perlakuan antara ibu terhadap anak perempuan dan ibu terhadap anak laki-laki. Ibu dengan anak laki-laki lebih membimbing secara aktif tentang isi tontonan televisi dibandingkan ibu dengan anak perempuan.Kata kunci: anak usia sekolah dasar, bimbingan aktif, kompetensi sosial, sosialisasi media The Influence of Parental Media Socialization and Peer Social Supports on SocialCompetence of School-aged Children AbstractThe low social competence of children can be caused by the many media containing antisocial behavior that is accessible by children and also the negative influence of peers. This study aimed to analyze the influence of media socialization of parents and social support of peer group on the social competence of school -aged children. The study used a survey method with cross sectional design. Samples of this study were 120 students that were selected by using simple random sampling technique of 4th grade students at three elementary schools in the city of Bogor. The results showed that the social competence of children were at high level in every dimension (self-knowledge, self-management, knowing of the social environment, expert in building relationships). Factors that influence positively on the social competence of children were the active guidance of a mother when watching television, the number of hours that child use for reading, the number of hours that father use for reading, and age of father. Factors that negatively affect were the number of hours that father use for watching television, restrictions on reading a book by the mother, number of children's books, number of books father's books, and age of mother. The study also found differences in treatment between mother of daughter and mother of the boy. Mother whose boy more actively guiding of the contents of television viewing than mother whose daughter.
