PurposeThe purpose of this study is to ascertain the role of training design on employee performance in the health sector of Pakistan.Design/methodology/approachThis cross-sectional study applies random sampling to select respondents among Pakistan's trained health nurses. The study uses a survey questionnaire as a primary tool to collect the data. The 306 completed questionnaires form the study sample, with their data analyzed to find the results.FindingsStructural equation modeling shows the positive and significant roles of training content and learning style on employee performance. In contrast, the study finds the role of the trainer on nurses' employee performance in Pakistan to be insignificant.Practical implicationsThis research generally makes a valuable contribution to the training literature, particularly in Pakistan. Employers need to provide more training programs to reduce the cost of recruiting and training new staff members. Furthermore, the study recommends the provision of feedback to employees after training so they become aware of areas where they can improve their performance. This study's findings warrant consideration in the current training and development environment, and by policymakers and health sector planners of the Pakistani government.Originality/valueThis research study will help researchers to fill the gap in the international investigation by testing the training design and performance factors.
Purpose The study aims to purpose the role of the work environment (WE) towards employees’ performance (EP) in Pakistan’s health sector. Design/methodology/approach Data-wise, the study is cross-sectional and random sampling was used to glean the response from the trained health nurses in Pakistan. The survey questionnaire was used as a primary tool to collect the data. In total, 306 usable samples as used to infer the final consequences. Findings The structural equation modeling through AMOS 26.0 for windows resulted in a positive and significant effect of an organizational learning culture, supervisor support on EP. On the other hand, the impact of peer support on EP is not significant among the nurses in Pakistan. Practical implications The policymakers and planners in the health sector and government may address unemployment – are willing to join the health sector. Better performance through the WE would provide equity in health and would not violate fundamental human rights. This work may help human resource management bring advancement in organizational and social determinants of health equity and practical interventions to overwhelm health-care barriers. Originality/value The study overcomes the gaps in terms of the cross-sectional survey to measure nurses’ performance in Pakistan.

On the other hand, there is an insignificant impact of motivation to learn on performance among the nurses of Pakistan.Practical implicationsBroadly, the findings of the study would provide some new insights to understand the performance of nurses in the health care sector through the outcomes of the training characteristics. Further, the results would be a way out to make a better quality of health care enhanced with the support of training. It may contribute to the growth in quality of work and improve work productivity by boosting up and uplifting training characteristics. The research arena would enrich the inclusive theoretical framework of performance and contribute to the domain literature and methodological validation.Originality/valueThe study confirms the role of training characteristics towards performance among the nurses of the public health sector of Pakistan. The investigation would further validate the impact of cognitive ability and the motivation to learn and performance goals on performance globally.
Purpose This paper aims to explore the intention to adopt Islamic finance (ItIF) through the mediation of attitudes towards Islamic finance among microbusiness owners of Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach The study is co-relational and based on cross-sectional data. The authors gathered the data from microbusiness owners through a survey questionnaire. The authors used 236 valid cases to assume the outcomes. Findings The results through structural equation modeling reveal a significant positive effect of the perception of Shariah compliance (PoSC), knowledge of the Islamic financial system (KoIF), religious preferences (RP) and loyalty on ItIF. Furthermore, attitude towards Islamic finance (AtIF) is a potent factor in developing the relationship between PoSC, KoIF, RP, loyalty and ItIF. Practical implications The study’s findings would be helpful for planners and policymakers in developing policies that favourably enhance the attitudes and intentions among individuals towards Islamic financing. The results would inspire readers to go to Islamic finance and an interest-free financial system enriched with Shariah law or Islamic obligations. The study would provide implications for the financial institutions in Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world. Originality/value The study offers an apparent thoughtfulness of the empirical evidence from microbusiness owners of Pakistan. The study would provide a plausible mediating contribution of AtIF.
The process of entrepreneurship has a significant reputation for the career-related choice gained by innovation and risk-taking. The present study proposes to investigate the career decisions, opportunity recognition (ORN) and entrepreneurial intention (EIN) levels among university students studying sports sciences in Pakistan. The present study explores the EIN of young adults greatly associated to their career decisions and recognizes opportunism. The study employed cross-sectional data collected throughout Pakistan using a survey questionnaire. In total, 282 valid samples are utilized for concluding the investigation. By applying the path analysis through AMOS, the findings suggest a positive and significant effect of career decisions [(conscious career decisions (CCD) and blind career decisions BCD] on EIN among sports science students. Irrespective of this, environmental factors (ENFs) have an insignificant impact on EIN. The outcomes of a research study may provide guidelines for policymakers and universities’ authorities to accomplish and support the career development of students and accomplish the potential career catastrophes relating to the significant facts of unemployment issues and unemployed young adults. Moreover, the study would also assist the students in recognizing their career opportunities to tackle the unemployment trends. Further, the effect of ORN on EIN is also found to be positive and significant.
